Hi All,

I've finally selected a track list for my album. I've put it up on soundcloud. This is a private link but I'm sharing this with the forum as I would appriciate your opinions as to the running order and if there are others from my soundcloud account that should be on here (that's if you've got 75 minutes to spare!;). Some of these tracks need revisiting so it's by no means the finished version.

heres the set link:

Rainbows In The Dark - The Album

The runing order is as follows:

1. Rainbows In The Dark
2. Pentre Ifan
3. Across The Dune
4. Astral Requiem
5. Monolith (We See The Dawn)
6. Barafundle Part 1 and 2
7. Hand Across The Mountains (Tub2 Mix)
8. Invisible Colours
9. Vicious Circles
10 .Dancing With Ghosts
11. Cosmic Sorrow (JFK Mix)
12. In The Forest Of Lost Souls
13. Across The Dune (Reprise)

Oh btw....... there is a new track just finished on soundcloud but it not for the feint hearted. Not sure Mike will ever go Industrial. It's called "Bending The Light Of The Darkness" and the link is below if you dare!!

I can see some of my favourites there, QM, but also some I haven't heard yet. I'll check them out. I'm glad you're giving prominence to "Rainbows in the Dark"; it's a great track.

that was always going to be the title.. Again RITD (as I shall call it now) needs a little work on to get rid of the repetivness..

Not sure Mike will ever go Industrial.

The challenge for Mike would be to reconcile his enormous melodic gift with a genre that focuses on anti-melody (ie, noise). I'm sure he could do it, but I imagine it would be challenging. He'd also have a ready-made album title to hand: that well-known pun My Coalfield.  :D

"Across the Dune" has just entered my QM top 5 with a bullet :) I can see why you wanted to reprise it.

As HATM  is still my favourite piece of yours, I'd like to see it last, but of course it's your call.

The album is Beautiful, Quietman, well done :)

a lovely set of pieces of music that have your hallmark throughout.

I like the structure of the album, the way you build to the more 'dark', slightly 'sinister' tracks, (totally wrong words, not what I mean really, but the closest I can find atm ) Invisible colours & Vicious Circles. And then the curve back to the more gentler sounds...Dancing with Ghosts is just gorgeous, I absolutely love it, just a tiny bit disturbing, but on the right side of disturbing! conjures up ghostly images and darkness...then to move into Cosmic Sorrow is a stroke of genius, they work so very well next to each other. Well thought out.

There's a range of sounds and styles there that present your musical skills in a really interesting way.  It holds together very well.  I have taken a while to reply because I have been listening carefully.

Composing must continue!!!!

:)

P.S  I'm on total overload with music right now, but I love it! Have been listening to Bob the Screamer's work too...with this Tubular.net Album who needs to visit I Tunes!!..ever again...there appears to be a never ending source of wonderful wonderful music that flows ever forward, thanks everyone, so much, you all deserve to be heard.

Hi NS

Glad you like Across The Dune. I bought some new sounds from Camel Audio Alchemy Player and this flowed when I wrote it.

Now you heard the music try the video to go with it:

You're too kind Bee!!

I'm glad you took your time in replying. It's an honour that you took the time to listen to the whole album. It's not set in stone the track order but that's why I appreciate your comments as it's the listener who will be hearing this at the end of the day.

B the S is excellent. He is the Scandinavian Mike Oldfield. I'm listening to it in the cafe. 'Roads' stands out for me but I don't think the little old ladies appreciate his excellent talent!

All the best

I think that would give the listener a heart attack as they fall to sleep listening to the mellow "Across The Dune (Reprise)" and then comes "Bending the Light...."...Shall I do the special collectors edition with that on the end!!!?

Hi TT

Looks like "Across The Dune" is a bit of a favourite.. I still love it. Particular as the track morphs into the ambient soundscapes at the end.

Glad you like it. Thanks for taking the time to listen...

yes could be but to me it reminds me of one of my all time favourite electronic tracks by John Foxx "Underpass"...
I had no intention of copying it either it just reminded me of the start of "Underpass"....
