Possibly - the M is right. The rest I can believe would vary with him signing it quickly.

I notice that the seller has several for sale (though I only see 4 of the 12 mentioned, I guess the rest have already been sold or are yet to come). They all look similar, but none looks quite like his usual signature (the way the 'old' part of 'oldfield' is written is very unlike the way he signs it when he's writing more carefully).

I would actually think that they're probably genuine - most forgers would probably try and make it look as much like his standard signature as possible, rather than doing a scribble which looks a bit suspicious. It's highly likely that they were just signed extremely quickly. However, the signature forgers out there no doubt rely on people thinking that...

well he's got lots of signed discs from lots of different artists. so either it is a forger or someone who has or has had some special connections to labels/their artists. maybe as mike signed 12 lp's he did it in a hurry

i guess i'll ask him how come he got all those signatures

He probably just hung around after concerts to get them (assuming he didn't do them himself in his living room with the help of a pack of magic markers ;)) - that's at least the way a lot of autograph collectors manage it. The signatures would then be done in a hurry, and probably with tired hands too (Mike would also probably have been wanting to get back to his dressing room/limousine/hotel for a beer, and not stand round all night signing LPs! ).
But I guess you'll soon find out the exact circumstances, if you ask...

I brought a Mike Oldfield sig a few years ago. I think it is genuine as Mike probaly isn't worth forging a sig for. There is a pic at ...

i have a signed photo from around the mid 80's, and it looks reasonably close given how sigs change over the years

That signature you have there, x-donna, is precisely what I was referring to when I talked of Mike's 'standard' signature - I would have no doubts about that one myself, it's easily identifiable as his. Note the way the 'f' in Oldfield comes down below the rest of the letters, something not present in the signed albums on eBay. You might like to compare it to the signature presented on the front page of mikeoldfield.org.
