I'm trying to burn a compilation at the moment, but several of the songs I'd like on it are on DVDs. I don't have a DVD-ROM, so I was wondering if it is possable to plug a DVD player into the line-in on a soundcard. I'm sure it won't be too hard to get the required plugs or adaptors, but is it even possable? Would I need to put it through an amp first? (that would also be no problem) Or is there another way? My soundcard isn't flash at all so the only input I've got is line-in, to take a normal plug for a microphone. Any help would be much appreciated.

DVD player's stereo out to PC line in (with dual-RCA to headphone plug adaptor cable) should be OK.
- You probably know that you will also need some software to record the incoming signal. Either a simple wav-recorder has already come along with your soundcard, you can try shareware versions (or cheap older relaeses) of commercial software like e.g. goldwave, or you try some free software like e.g. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Cool Edit Pro and Goldwave are good to this kind of recording... problem is, I don't remember the URL to get them. Try searching on ye olde Google if you're interested.

Thanks for the advide, and yes I do already have Nero Wave editor which came with my CD-Burner. That will record from line-in, so it should be good. I'll see how I go when I get the time.

Cool Edit Pro now is released by Adobe under the name Adobe Audition. To download it and purchase it go to http://www.adobe.com/products/audition/main.html and if you already have Cool Edit (2000 or Pro) go to http://www.adobe.com/store/products/master.jhtml?id=catAudition to upgrade it.
