Can any one help with the lyrics for the song Red, Green And You Blue from the Kevin Ayers And The Whole World album Shooting At The Moon which of course Mike played guitar/bass on.

This is what I think so far with question marks in place of the parts I can't get:

I have dreams of summer skys,
Close my eyes and think of things that make me glad,
Don't see why I should be sad,
Every day, yeah,
Watch the sun turn red and green,
All I've seen is you.
And I'm sitting in my room,
Find a tune and make believe I'm on a star,
Got to find out where you are,
Why you stay,
Why you play your soft guitar from so far away,

I watch every sunrise,
?????????????????
It whispers on the stage,
I'm just watching from my cage,

Every ??????? finds it's wings,
Pretty things sound,??????????
Dancing sounds of summer rain,
Takes me off the ground again,
Makes me high,
Don't have time to sit around,
Might come down to you.

I watch every sunrise,
I???????????????
It whispers on the stage,
I'm just watching from my cage.

I watch every sunrise,
????????????????
It whispers on the stage,
I'm just watching from my cage.

Cheers, Gandalph.

I'll see if I can help you...

The first lot of question marks sounds to me like "Hear music change a page" with the following line being "Hear whispers on the stage".

The second lot seems to be "Every evening finds its wings".

I don't hear anything after "Pretty thing(s) sound" - it just goes from there to "Dancing sounds of summer rain".

The last time, it seems to be "You watch every sunrise" rather than 'I'.

Is that any help?

Many thanks Korgscrew. That helps a lot. I'll update the lyrics on my site in the next couple of days.

The suggestions do seem to sound correct when read at the same time as listening to the music. Though I'm not too sure about the "You watch every sunrise" rather than 'I' bit.

Gandalph. :D

I've heard it, too! :) Your transcriptions seem almost fine, but I have some suggestions for some problems. But to be honest, I can't really take up the meaning of this lyrics (if it has).

So, I think, it's:

Kevin Ayers: Red, Green And You Blue

I have dreams on summer skies
Close my eyes and think of things that make me glad
Don't see why I should be sad
Every day yeah
Watch the sun turn red and green
All I've seen is you

And I'm sitting in my room
Find a tune and make believe I'm on a star
Got to find out where you are
Why you stay
Why you play your soft guitar
From so far away

I watch every sunrise
Hear (/In ?) music change a PITCH (I'm almost sure of this.)
It whispers on the stage
I'm just watching from my cage

Every evening finds that wings
Great (/Pretty ?) things start
Dancing sound of summer rain
Takes me off the ground (/crowd ?) again
Makes me hang (/high ?)
Don't have time to sit around (/see the road ?)
Might come down to you

I watch every sunrise
Hear (/In ?) music change a pitch
It (/Hear ?) whispers on the stage
I'm just watching from my cage

You watch every sunrise
Hear (/In ?) music change a pitch
It (/Hear ?) whispers on the stage
I'm just watching from my cage

P.S. Anyway, your homepage is great! Don't You know something about the lyrics from David Bedford's The Sirens?

I think you are correct about pitch rather than page. It would seem to make more sense. I think "don't have time to sit around" seems to fit better. I'm not sure if it should be It or Hear whispers on the stage.

Two people seem to think that the last verse begins with You rather than I. So I guess I'm out voted ;-) I still can't hear it myself but I'll go with the majority.

Thank you for your kind comments about my web site. I'm afraid I can't help with the lyrics for The Sirens. I can't understand any of them. If you (or any one else) can help I'll put them on the site though. Now there's a challenge ;-)

Gandalph.
