Just noticed that on BBC Radio 4 at 9am this Friday there's a broadcast of the Reith Lectures 2006, and it's called In the Beginning Was Sound. A pianist, Daniel Barenboim, is exploring the nature of music in our lives. I guess there will be more than one programme.
It sounds like the sort of thing that has often been disussed at length and in some depth here on Tubular.net. Maybe he has been lurking round here for a while? Apparently this man really believes in the ability of music to connect with our human consciousness more so than any art form. ( just my kind of thing!!
Think I might have a listen although I will be at work. It's also available via bbc website & also as a downloadable podcast. ( what is that, is it anything to do with peas?)
Should be interesting.
