I'm surprised that a Richard Hammond  thread hasn't been started,as there's a Steve Irwin (R.I.P). thread,also given Mike's enthusiasm for cars/bikes.

I was saddened to hear about Richard's accident that left him fighting for his life, but I'm glad to see he's making a speedy recovery  :) .  I do admit to enjoying driving cars on the open road, music playing,Who hoo, what freedom, and can be inclined to
watch motoring programmes,Top Gear  is my favourite. I love the team of Jeremy Clarkson,JamesMayand Richard.

Get Well Soon ,Richard,Gorgeous  ;).

Apparantly the Hamster is making an amazing recovery, out of intensive care now. Not bad when they said he had brain injuries.

Mind you - don't they usually have specially trained drivers (like ex-jet pilots) driving those jet cars? Not a 5 foot nothing ex-local radio DJ who is trying to talk a commentary as well as drive.

But Hammond will be back, he was the best one of the 3 from Top Gear. And who will Jeremy Clarkson take the mickey out of without him?

Agreed, he'smy favourite TG presenter. Poor Hamster, still the mickey taking is all in good jest     :) .  Maybe women want to protect Hamster fromthe"nasty" Mr Clarkson.  To see why Rich has many female fans, see this pic here,
www.enwikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Hammond

He's gorgeous IMHO ;)  :D .

Get well hamster!

It's so good taht hes recovering so well. I loooooooove Top Gear. Hopefully he'll be back and the trio will be cracking jokes at each others expenses.

I guess he did it himself because he loves speed and cars etc. I guess if he had of died than he would have died doing what he loved (like Steve Irwin).

But thankfully he didn't.

Andy Wilman, friend of Jeremy Clarkson since school and executive producer of the show has said that he would never even consider filming without all of the current three together.

I recommend James May's book to all, Clarkson's are very entertaining too if you like his style :)

I'm sure Richard will return to his full glory, worrying about looking affeminate with so many flowers rather than his health shows he's not going to change.

Looking forward to seeing you back on the funniest television programme around Mr Hammond!

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only Hamondette, here , that's  a term for those (usually females) who fancy the gorgeous Mr Richard Hammond :) .

I'd like to polish Mr Hammond's chrome,on his cars of course  ;) .

Come on Hamster ,get well soon, I'd like to see you back in the driving seat, and presenting Top Gear where you belong.

I've requested membership of  Hammond Heaven  ,I was a bit concerned that I'd be in a minority amongst car enthusiast males on car forums  .   Not to say that I don't  like cars,I do enjoy driving 'em  , Scalextric and train sets    were much more exciting than dolls :p.

For me having a go at things once considered  a traditional male preserve,is so liberating,a sense of achievement  :).

Anyway pleased to learn that there's other females appreciate the many talents  of Mr Hammond  ;).

The latest news I've found on the BBC websiteis that Richard is making "very good progress" see
www.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5384400.stm

Hamster is making good progress,"YIPPEEE,YIPPEEE,YIPPEEEEEE!!!!! WHOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Well, I'd like to echo the words of Jeremy Clarkson and say, I can't wait to get the Hamster back. he is easily the funniest guy on Top Gear, and possibly the most stylish too.

I agree, but Richard IS the most stylish of the TG presenters.  Hamster could wear an empty spud sack and still look FANTASTIC!!!!    ;)  :)  :D .

You??? No Richard "Hamster" Hammond  , but wouldn't he need a pilots licence.

I too was pleased to see those pics of Rich smiling :D,  I'm sure being nearer to his beautiful wife and daughters will speed up his recovery. Please get well soon  Rich xx ;) .

I think I must be the sole Hammondette here, any others here ladies???

BTW I bought a Daily Mirror today,Rich has been restoring an 1970's Vauxhall Viva HC,remember them??  I remembermy Dad owned a few, took me backto my youth. I didn't think 20-30 years ago they'd become classic cars, but hey, they're cool  www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vauxhall_Viva
Seeing that pic of Hamster's Viva tookmeonatrip down memory lane, my Dad did own a Ford Anglia 105E,manufactured between 1959-1967.  Younger members here willprobably know the 105E  as "the Harry Potter Car" see here

I'm playing Hergest Ridge, lighting candles and incense, just trying to focus some healing vibes in Richard's direction  :) .

I did hear that The Sugababes (the girl band who had to rip off Gary Newman's Are Friends Electric) want to sing for Rich to help him recover,  NOOOOOO!!!! poor Richard     :( .

Iknow if I was lying illin a hospital bed I wouldn't want The Sugababes to sing perform for me. I'd much prefer to have Mike Oldfield, PinkFloyd,Queen withPaul Rodgers, or Robert Plant play live  :D.

For a satirical view see here www.hecklerspray.com/sugababes-to-sing-to-poorly-top-gear-man/20065039php

Given the choicebetween The Sugababes or the Rolling Strones, the Stones would win everytime :D .

I'd probably want either Mike Oldfield or a visit from The Coral would be nice. They're such a funny folk band. They're also a fairly relaxed band, in sharp contrast to the Arctic Monkeys.

Heck, if Arctic Monkeys, Queen (with or without Paul Rodgers) or the remaining members of The Who and Pink Floyd came to play for me, I'd probably be scared to death. I'd probably think I'd strayed into some sort of mad hallucinogenic dream, especially if they all came to play for me at the same time...but then, that's probably just me.

Or then again it could be the morphine:laugh:.

Hey I've just solved the waiting list  crises in the NHS,just  book the Sugababes to play to the patients,I think there'll be a mass exodus of patients leaving the hospital whatever their state of illness/injury as the  Sugababes "music" is so awful  :p :( ,this will then free up beds for the next influx of patients, and book  the Sugababes again, and so on.......  .

Yay at least "Battle of The Geeks" went ahead as planned :) , even if Top Gear is postponed indefinitely.

No one (not just on this forum) seems to be saying the same about richard hammond as they were about steve irwin.

"something like that was bound to happen sooner or later".

Its a shame yeah but why say it about steve and not richard.

Bloody stupid what he done anyway. Wow lets see how fast we can drive because theres so much point in that. sorry to the fans but like people said about steve irwin, the same goed to Richard Hammond.

Hey hang on there a mo glasgow tubular, but you called Steve Irwin a "poor guy",if so  isn't Richard Hammond a poor guy too??? Both were  unfortunate and tragic  accidents that left Steve dead and Rich fighting for his life in hospital.I have sympathy for Steve Irwin's wife and kids for loosing a wife/father,  I also hope that Richard contines to improve and  is able to make a full recovery :) ,however long it may take.

Both men are/were experts in their chosen fields, I'm sure appropriate risk assesments (I do think some health and saftey people with nothing better to do go much to far such as  banning games of  conkers from the schoolplay ground)   were carried out before Richard got in to that dragster.  So if Rich did a  "bloody stupid" thing driving that jet powered dragster at 300mph,thenwasn't  Steve Irwin was equally "bloody stupid" getting too close to that ray???

R.I.P. Steve. Get Well Soon Hamster xx
:D

Sorry for my rant there, but no hard feelings GT, I'd buy you a drink, what's your tipple :) ?? It will have to be a hypothetical drink as I'm  down south.
