Last surviving WW1 British Tommy Harry Patch died today aged 111. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8168691.stm, also a week after veteran Henry Allingham, (also the holder of the world's oldest man) http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/about-u....lingham
I knnow it's not strictly Mike related, but just thinking if the outcome of WW1 had been different we might not be here, Mike may not have been born.
I hate the thought of war, and would much prefer a peaceful solution, or our troops only be used to protect British interests, and to prevent invasion or terrorist threats , not fighting in some foriegn war that has nothing to do with us. It seems as if we haven't learned from the horrors of The Somme or Passchendale, as we're still sending our young men (and women) out to Afghanistan to come home in a coffin

Sorry just had to write this as I'm a Volunteer Welfare Worker with the Royal British Legion
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them"
R.I.P Mr Harry Patch Sir.
-------------- I'm going slightly mad, It finally happened, I'm slightly mad , just very slightly mad
If you feel a little glum to Hergest Ridge you should come.
I'm challenging taboos surrounding mental health
