There's a great band called Rush. They are playing from early seventies straight to now...A progressive rock mixed with heavy guitars and very characteristic vocals.
i am interested because many of MO fans like this band...Do you like Rush?

I don't - a bit too heavy for me. Sorry about that. :)

I love Rush! They're up there as one of my favourite bands ever.

What are your favourite Rush albums, by the way? I'm a fan of Hemispheres, Moving Pictures and Signals myself. And what did you think of Vapor Trails?

my favourite albums
"Presto" - still their strongest collection of songs ever."Show don't tell","anagram","Hand over fist" are my favourite from this band.in my opinion they never done album like this.
"Moving Pictures" - a classic
"Test for echo" - a solid Rush album, contains everything that i like the most about them
"Signals" - maginficent synth-rock piece of music

"Vpaor trails" in my opinion is to raw and loud although i like it.still they made better albums than this

Cool selection! I haven't heard Test For Echo yet (sadly), but I'm in full agreement about the other three.

I have been a fan for years, being that they are from a city(Toronto,Ontario,Canada.) about 40 min from my hometown(Hamilton,Ontario),

Seen them a few times, but up to about the "Signals" album 1982 is about where my taste for them ends,I am not a big fan of their post 1982 stuff, but still support this great Canadian band.Still given'r!!

Favourite albums for me are:

Rush 1974
Fly By Night 1975
Caress of Steel 1975
2112 1976
All the worlds a Stage 1976(overall favourite)
Farwell to Kings 1977

Here's a link to the site : Rush

Cheers~

I love Rush, too!! What a truly great and unique band. My favourite albums are Moving Pictures, A Farewell To Kings and Caress Of Steel, but basically I like everything up to Signals and since Counterparts. Not such a big fan of the Grace Under Pressure through Roll The Bones period. (Still good albums, just a bit too 80s for my taste.) Test For Echo is awesome, and so is Vapor Trails!

One of my favourite bands until this very day and though they constantly produced great music, they're still able to surprise me...take Vapour trails for example...that was a brave move and really blew me away...IMO they kind of lost it somehow from Hold your fire onwards and it took me a while to enjoy albums like Counterparts or Test for echo, so I wouldn't have expected a record like Vapour trails...
Lee,Lifeson,Peart: What more can you ask for?!

Hey,man I am a RushFreak-you can tell from my nickname.
Waht a cool idea to talk about Rush-that is my favourite band ever-first it was Mike but I prefer Rush noe-but Mike is still one of my top priorities-as I am writing this I am listening to the best Rush album ever Hold Your Fire-now that is a master piece-just like TB or Discovery(i love that album).

But the best albums that Geddy,Alex and Neil have produced are:

Hold Your Fire(1987)
Grace Under Preassure(1984)
2112(1976)
Moving Pictures(1980)
Caress of Steel(1975)
Counterparts(1993)

This is a must have list for any respectable music fan!

Eg-f*ckin-zactly, Geddy geezer!   HYF is an outstanding, sophisticated record and one of my favourite Rush albums. There might be those of you who've underestimated its importance and don't have a soft spot for it, but it's splendid, no two ways about it. It's very similar to Power windows and they both could have been Volume I and II...the only thing to complain about is the circumstance that it's a little bit too in-yer-face...but, in the end, there were sufficent punters who bought and liked it :D

Grace under pressure sounds a bit lackluster as far as I'm concerned- Rush were opting for a new direction with another producer and failed to a certain degree...eventually the members themselves were unsatisfied with how the songs turned out...IMO Grace under pressure is definitely a non-starter!

Fair enough, but I can't really attest to that, because I think they were out on a musical limp when they were about to write Grace under pressure- looking back on it, for me it's kind of an transitional album and they got away with it- doesn't mean that it's substandard, not at all...surely I will listen to it again... :O

Grace Under Pressure is definitely one of Rush's weakest moments - even though I love Kid Gloves. :D It makes me kinda surprise the huge amount of negative reviews Hold Your Fire actually gets. I don't find it a bad album. Okay, so it's not one of their absolute best (in my humble opinion), but it's a very pleasant listen. I prefer Power Windows, though... if only for Marathon. ;)

I guess that the majority is simply embarrassed to admit that they'd like it, because HYF contains an awful lot of sloppy and catchy tunes......which suits me fine, because I'm a great one for that :/  Power windows is great for Marathon and Big money...the guitar solo by Lifeson sends shivers down my spine...

The should've called it a day after the HYF album (Caution: This is a calculated wind-up, buddies!;)....but then...I would have missed many more gorgeous albums!  :O
