The UK website "Hidden House History" says that Mike moved out of the Beacon in 1976, and that Sally could have remained there until 1979, when presumably it was sold.

Does anyone know if this is true?

The only things I am sure are:

1) Mike bought the Beacon on the 28th of August 1973
2) Sally bought this house from Mike on the 18th of October 1977
3) Sally sold it on the 8th of October 1979

How do you know that by the way?

Before Mike it was owned by a couple of sisters. Sally sold it to the Griffiths family (not the same as the Penrhos Court family) who started the B & B. I didn't have those dates, but it helps if you speak to the person who currently owns the deeds.

Before Mike, it was owned by Percy Gorton and Lillian Bradley and Sally sold it to William Charles and Roserie Griffiths.

So, the timeline is:
1925 - 1938: Henry Knollys and Ellen Geraldine Foster
1938 - 1962: Harry Peter and Augusta Emily Hing
1962 - 1973: Percy Gordon and Lillian Joyce Bradley
1973 - 1977: Mike Oldfield
1977 - 1979: Sally Oldfield
1979 - 2003: Charles Lionel and Roserie Joan Griffiths
2003 - 2006: Shirley and Robert Pritchard
2006 -        : Mark and Helen Balcombe

Thanks yanouch, you have been digging!

I guess the story I was told about the two sisters was made up. I've now found the timeline and my little sketch plan of the studio has been included!

Regarding the plan of the studio, are you sure it is correct?
I ask this question because we often see a picture of Mike playing his Grand Piano downstairs The Beacon. In this picture, there is a window in the background behind him but not in your plan.

?

Ahh - that picture was taken in 1974. He shuffled the furniture around when the mixing desk went in. The plan is for the recording of Ommadawn only.

yanouch/airborne

Wow!!!!!!

I really am impressed by the extent of your knowledge. My  question certainly has been answered satisfactorily!

Well done guys. Thanks.

Have you had a look at my mystery photo post yet? No one has come up with an answer so far. Should be really easy.

Thank you very much
:)

I am looking for some photos of the Beacon from 1925 to the 80's. I have some, but they are very bad quality.
Have you got any in good quality?
