Has anyone else come across this file I found on a music mod file archive.  It uses the telescope bit from Saved by a bell on Discovery.

To me it's not horrible at all. Very weird, but nice. After all, I've heard lots & lots & lots of manipulations like this one, and this is neither better nor worse than the others. :D

@ Ian: can you give me more details on this? (such as exact title, artist, album etc?)

@ Oblique: either you never heard anything by Mark'Oh or you hate him... :)

Strangely poptastic. No - it's an interesting mix but not for everyone. I always liked those lyrics for there naffness value, but this is maybe a step too far.

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

Ugo, here is the original mod file which has all the details in it.  It is a .xm file, which winamp will play (I don't know about other media players).

Mark'Oh?  Was he the one who did 'Tears don't lie' which used 'When a child is born'?

Thanks a lot, Ian. ;)

About Mark'Oh: yes, that was him. I was referring to his use of sped-up vocals, such as on his Lionel Richie cover "Stuck on you". Anyway, "Tears don't lie" was not based on "When a child is born"... it was based on the tune which "When a child is born" is itself based on. The original tune is called "Soleado" and was originally produced and written in Italy. ;)

Guess I hate him....
Nothing personal though, I really don't like this music.

A search with "Oldfield, "Moonlight" or "Tubular" gives some interesting files. They are not all thump-thump music.

Actually there's even a one made by me. It's a bit boring...

Well after listening it now after many years it's not actually as bad as I remembered. Just there's one part that I hate. (Lack of creativity you know...)

There's a definite "American Country Music" lilt to the singer. I'm thinking more like "Sung by the offspring of a smurf and Dolly Parton" (Papa Smurf, you sly dog you...) Any more to be heard of Oldfield songs sung by smurves?

Yes, from memory, the smurf episode where Papa smurf comes back to the village claiming he had climbed the two highest peaks in smurfdom was the cover-up for the Dolly Parton affair.

Seriously now, other MO/smurf collaborations include the recent track "smurfin" on the Shady side. Mike claims to have used Cantor software to produce the vocal effects but I'm more inclined to think it's a box of smurfs hooked up to FL. Lets face it, after the demise of their TV show the smurfs couldn't afford to just sit back and survive off the profits of Blue Tac, they had to dismurfify into other income producing ventures, pro sound gadgets being one of them. I think you'd be suprised how far reaching the smurf legacy is within popular music today.
