...just before "Sailors Hornpipe".  Does anyone know if this piece was ever given a title?  One of Mikes most moving and complex solos. Actually, in all of recorded music, imo.

If you're talking about Tubular Bells Part II, it's called 'Ambient Guitars' in the 2003 version of Mike's long opus. :) The same piece was called 'Southern Silver' in the Amarok Player's tracklist for the old (1973) version of TB.

Thanks,Ugo. I don't believe this particular piece has appeared anywhere on record except on the "Exposed" album. Mike once said that it was his chance to let loose and inprovise during those particular gigs.
It is a jam of sorts, and it comes just before "Sailors Hornpipe" and "Guilty". You must hear it  sometime  ! :)
Let me know what you think.

I know what you're talking about - I have Exposed. The piece is indeed cool.    But, as for the name, none of the 'parts' of TB had any name back in 1973 when it was released, so I suppose that Mike still had no name for it in 1979-80, when he performed that wonderful version of it... :)

Well, the track as it is performed on Exposed was played on the late shows of the 79 tour and the ones of the 80 and officially, as far as I know, and apart from Exposed it is included on a very limited edition album called BBC Transcription Services that included a radio broadcast of one concert at London 1979 (if you want to see the album go to Take 4 ). This record exist too on CD but this is a bootleg taken from the original vinyl record and usually called BBC Exposed or The Real Exposed.

The regular version can be found too on several records but in a Kevin Ayers & The Whole World live album (I'm not sure if this is a boot or an official record) called BBC Radio 1 Live in Concert (as an improvisation in the middle of the track Why Are We Sleeping).

I love the variation of this piece on Exposed, there is also a wonderful version played by Mike on the Orchestral TB
