A little bit of silliness from a Perth (Australia)-based band The Magnificent Seven.

It's...  Tubular Cow Bells!

I agree, that was incredible! The good ol' outback version of the TB finalé. I wonder what Mike thinks of that one. I loved the bit with the banjo! And of course, who couldn't love the end:

"Tubular Cowbells!"

Superb!

I get the impression Mike has a fair sense of humour. Hopefully someone with the right connections will pass on a link of this track, I'm sure he'd love it!

Now, back to listening to it again

I also played it four times in a row as I had never heard it before and I just love it. I have always loved to hear different versions of my favourite tracks, esp TB and the funnier the better. This one is a classic, I esp love the real Aussie accent. Does anyone know when it was released?

Thanks Matthew :)

 Yes, very very funny, ain't it?

If I'm not wrong, this is Australian country band The Magnificent Seven. This may be off their 2003 album "Rust and Diamonds" but I'm not sure. ;)

That is awesome! I could not ask for more, except if they had added "Digital Elvis samples".

The TB2 version? Yes, as part of the new boxed set: "Far Country and Western: Mike Oldfield goes Nashville"

On Side 1, you have these tracks:

"Reba Sentinell McEntire"
"Lone Star"
"Neon Light"
"Blue Honky-Tonk"
"Sun Records Jammer"
"Delta Dawn"
"The Cowbell", with these introductions:
    "Grand ol' opry"
    Jerry Reed on pipeorgan
    Hee Haw Honeys
Two electric guitars slightly soaked in moonshine
    The Nashville effect
   Digital samples of Elvis Presley
   And tubular cowbells...."

On side 2, you have:
"Wynette-less"
"The Great Plain" (the original track, already banjo-laden, is kept)
"Behind Closed Sunset Doors"
"Conway Twittoo"
"Altered Confederate State"
"Any Man of Mayan" (featuring Shania Twain)
"Moonshine" (also not altered. Now it fits perfectly with the rest of the album for once)

-------------

Also in the boxed set is a version of "Ommadawn" entitled "The Devil Went Down to Stonehenge"

Where the Falls of Minnehaha
Flash and gleam among the oak-trees,
Laugh and leap into the valley."
