Hello people, a few weeks since i last posted. i've been out and about the web and i think that i may have found some who could possibly work with Mike, anyway see what you all think....  SKY the instrumental group from the seventies and eighties led by John Williams (the guitarist not the film composer) with Herbie Flowers ,Tristran Fry, Steve Gray and Kevin Peek. together they had some very successful albums and then sadly John Williams left after the cadnium album and they were without a guitarist and started using different people. So what about Mike i think they would sound quite good together what do 'ya'll think then??? :)

I don't see why really? I've got 2 Sky albums on vinyl and both of them contain very, very average and dated instrumental music certainaly nowhere near Mike's standards. I think if Mike is to collaborate again I would rather see him work with a good producer, someone who is sympathetic to his style and could  inject a bit of much needed freshness.

could john williams have played classical guitar music?
if my memory works (maybe it doesn't...) some years ago someone lent me a recording of him playing a classical guitar (maybe even performing the difficult masterpiece 'el concierto de aranjuez' but could be other pieces...)
if i'm not wrong he came to spain sometime in the past to  teach in summer guitar courses, is it possible?
if we are talking about the same man, he is really brilliant.

about the collaboration... i'm sure mike could do as well as john williams does... but although i don't know how mike is, listening to his music i can't imagine him playing with a band but i may be wrong again :)

John Williams in fact _is_ a classical guitarrist, with Sky being just an excursion into jazzrock (or whatever). Not to be confused with the Hollywood film score composer, btw...
Find more about him : http://plum.cream.org/williams/index.htm

TOBY, which two sky records do you have? I have a few live recordings, including a DVD, and they are much better live. I do think that Mike does blow them away really, but they are still enjoyable to listen to.

I,ve got 'Cadmium' and Sky 2. Some of Sky 2 is ok if a little dated although the cover version of Bach's Toccata is truely awfull. To tell you the truth I didn't know they even still existed until now, I'd kind of forgotten about them.

Strangely enough here in Britain there's a band who are quite popular at the moment called Lemon Jelly and they could almost be a contemporary Sky. They're made up of 3 quite famous session musicians and they're doing kind of ambient instrumental crossover stuff which I recomend you all hearing if you haven't already. A lot of their stuff is being played to death on TV shows and commercials here in the UK. ( a bit like Moby's 'Play' was)

Anyway the albums called 'KY' by Lemon Jelly. Some of it's very good and its not a million miles away from the music of MO.

In case anyne should ask ;-) , I've got
Morning Sky, Sky, Sky 2, Sky 3 and Five Live until I somehow lost interest. In addition, there's Kevin Peek - Awakening and John William's Collection and Travelling as solo works by Sky members.

yes i know sky are dated and so is their music but all that was back in the eighties, when Mikes music sounded like Music from the eighties. A collaboration today could be very different.and i'm not saying that Mike should replace the great JW, the remaining members of sky are nothing compared to Mike, he would only make them sound better, anyway each of them is a good musician in their own right and they would all have something to offer if a collaboration took place. if you have ever heard any of the Sky albums, just imagine what together they could create, just think what would happen with Mikes influence??????????????? ;)btw i have Sky,Sky2,3,4 & cadnium which is nolonger available ;)
