i've just made a translation of this article, appeared on the newspaper segundamano, alcala edition, on the 29/12/2004. here it is:
Quote | The Town Council is willing to bring Mike Oldfield and Prince in 2005. If the shows are finally confirmed, both will be held in next July.
The City Cultural Department is working on what, whenever there's finally an agreement, will be two of the big musical dates of the year in Alcala, in the same line of last year's Bob Dylan concert -Mike Oldfield and Prince concerts. The stage would be the same, La Huerta del Obispo. And also the system, the Town Council would pay for the artists' fee and produce the concert, expecting to cover expenses with the takings. "We did it with Bob Dylan and it worked, the Foundation didn't lose a euro, and we are talking about a similar budget, a fee around 200.000 €, that become 300.000 with production", Culture town councillor, Elisa de Francisco (PP), stated. If the negotiations are solved, Mike Oldfield's concert -agreement that is almost closed according to de Francisco, they only need now to sign the contract- would be on the 15th July, a date proposed by the own Moonlight Shadow author's production company. Oldfield was born in 1953 in England and started his career successfully being just 17 years old, with Tubular Bells. About the artist before known as Prince, funk and soul's king, author of songs like Purple Rain, De Francisco thinks the perfect date to bring him would be the beginning of the same month of July. |
