As we know, Mike is a big fan of Star Trek and I guess other science fiction. It figures, and I can hear the sci-fi inspiration in some of his music.

But which shows do you like?

For me it's Doctor Who. I love it - both the original series and the new one (though I believe the next series will be even better! )

Never been a fan of Star Trek - for some reason none of the various shows ever appealed to me. Which is strange considering I like many aspects of science fiction and fantasy.

Anyway...

Diddledumdiddleydumdiddledumdiddleydum...
(That's supposed to be Doctor Who, not Platinum!! )

If given a choice between Star Trek and Star Wars, I'd choose Star Trek even without blinking an eye.

However if compared again to the others, some of the best sci-fi series would have to be X-Files, Farscape and Firefly (in no order). Anybody heard the latter two shows before? :p

I used to be a Trekkie but I was so disappointed by all the episodes which came after The Next Generation (Picard, Data & co.) that I don't 'trek' any longer. However, I have many video versions (original VHS tapes, remastered tapes, remastered DVDs) of all the 6 episodes in the Star Wars saga, so I think I can say I'm a fan of the George Lucas epic. :)

I have always been a huge Star Trek fan, especially with The Next Generation.  I actually cried when that series ended.  However, I had to vote for Star Wars, only because of the recent culmination of the films.  Episode III is one of the best, if not the best, movie I have ever seen.  Typical tacky dialog, but the powerful emotions and the ultimate story about the fight between good and evil.  Very sad.  It had a great impact upon me, much more than any Star Trek episode or movie.

You forgot Stargate!

I don't know what my favourite is but Stargate is up there with Star Trek (especially TNG), Star Wars, X-Files, and The Dead Zone (the tv show), if it counts.

I voted for Dr Who, because the latest series was really good.  Second choice would be the X Files, but I have watched every episode (many of them several times over) and I'm just a bit sick of it!

If I recall correctly, could it have been Buck Rogers of the 21st Century, and Duck! Rogers of the 25th Century, a delightful interpretation by Daffy Duck?. And Marvin the Martian deserves a vote all his own. Wonder if he is related to Marvin the depressed Robot from Hitckhikers Guide to the Galaxy, another fine contender.

When I was at school I use to ask kids their name, and if it was Sharon Smith, I would say, any relation to Sharon Brown? The confused looks on their faces were priceless.

But I have to agree wholeheartedly with Billbo, Star Wars is the ONLY Science Fiction I have ever really gotten into. If you don't count SpaceBalls!

God what a choice I went for X-Files as that is what I collect but I love Stargate and Atlantis. ,Blakes 7 was the best when I was a kid,I finally met Paul Darrow last year and got his autograph. I went all girly and didn't know what to say to him!
I like Star Wars and Dr.Who and  TNG. I am such a Sc-fi nerd  :D

Trek hands down. Although I also love the new Russell T. Davies Who (could you tell?  ;)  ). Used to quite like The X Files back in its heyday as well. But Star Wars doesn't really do much for me to be honest - I think its very much a case of style over substance; nice eye candy though.

Other - Red Dwarf rules.

Oh, and can't wait to see David Tennant as Dr Who, I've loved his other stuff and reckon he will bring back Tom Bakers fun elements.

How can we choose for Dr. Who ?

I don't know if the show is running outside the UK, but at least in Belgium, it's not on Belgian television.

The only Dr.Who I remember is way back in the 70's. I remember something with red telephone boxes, but apart from that, nothing comes to mind.

I'm not a sci-fi type of guy, but given the choice, I'd watch Star wars  :)  Star Trek gets a 7 on the WTF? scale, and Dr Who is plain weird imo  ;)
