I love Steve Hackett's classical guitar album 'Bay Of Kings'. I've noticed that the title track has a bit of a tune from 'Taurus 2' or is it 'Orabidoo'?

Glad to hear there are other Steve Hackett fans out there. My favourite album of Steve's remains 'Voyage of the Acolyte' - Sally Oldfield provides a fabulous vocal on 'Shadow of the Hierophant' (apologies if I've mispelled the title - too lazy to check  :p ) which is well worth checking out for the uninitiated.

Cheers,

T4

One of his best recent albums is 'Guitar Noir'. It's beautiful and romantic. The first side he plays mostly classical guitar and sings, and the second side is more electric guitar dominated. There are a few instrumentals. Check it out via  soundbytes on the web - it really is a stunning album!! My favourite track is 'Vampire With A Healthy Appetite'!! I saw him do most of the album live - I was really close, and I couldn't believe how fast he played on some of the songs!!!

Viva Steve Hackett

Just listen to all the album Voyage of the acolyte and you will see all the skills from this fabulous guitar player.

and if you want another group, one of my favorite: Brand x
with Phil Collins on drum...it's jazz fusion with prog.
EXCELLENT !!!

In the late 80s I've seen him play an acoustic set with his brother (if I remember correctly), here in good, old Rotterdam.
Very, very good it was. Needless to say I'm a fan as well.

My favorite album is spectral mornings, because of the guitar sound (listen to every day, spectral mornings and tigermoth)!

voyage of the acolyte is excellent, but it's more genesis than steve hackett...(phil collins on drums and mike rutherford on bass)

No, there is a difference! Can't really describe it, of course it`s similar to Genesis, but different at the same time. It has an even more dreamy, removed atmosphere to it. Plus, it's an instrumental album, except for two tracks. As much as I like all Genesis albums from the 70s (really really, that is), Voyage has always been my favourite to come out of the Genesis 'family'.

There's a possibility of Steve doing some UK dates later in the year, so go to Steve's website and sign up to it so you can be informed when the dates are confirmed!! I saw him in '93 on the tour to promote 'Guitar Noir' - excellent album and gig!! It's one of his best albums - the first few tracks are very romantic with lots of beautiful Spanish guitar, then later on are the more rocky tracks with electric guitar. There are a few instrumentals, but the songs are great too!
