Hi,

I'm almost finished recording the music for my next album and thought I'd share a sneak peek with you.

The track is called Stormy Sea and the link is:
http://soundcloud.com/purplerhapsody/stormy-sea

My next album is tentatively called "Pianoforte" and will be completely solo piano music. All the music has been recorded once (live and with no quantisation or other studio trickery) and I'm in the process of listening for mistakes and audio glitches before mastering it.

Thanks in advance for listening!

Cheers,
Terry.

Talking about CDs.....

You seem to have your CDs on cd baby. Perhaps you could drop me a line on the process?

Not sure how to start...

The beginning reminded me of the Moonlight Sonata, for some reason. Incidentally, are you familiar with Liszt's piano piece "St Francis of Paola Walking on the Water"? That also depicts stormy seas in terms of piano sound (until St F trots along and calms things down!;).

I generally find solo piano music rather dull; it takes something like the Waldstein or Appassionata Sonatas to keep my attention.

Very nice Terry.
Coveys a sadness with apprehension, with a smattering of hope at around 1:44 .
Liked it a lot  :)

Your piano playing is, as ever, very beautiful and masterful.

The story feels like a powerful love story - something on the lines of Doctor Zhivago.

Hi,

Thanks everyone for the positive comments... specifically:

@quietman - thanks for your comments on SoundCloud... and I'm just about to send you a message about CD Baby... assuming I don't get abducted by aliens it'll be with you soon :)

@nightspore - I wasn't aware of that piece by Liszt but I've listened to it tonight. Very impressive... sounds almost like there should be at least 4 hands playing it at some points. I think the Moonlight Sonata similarity is valid because musically the low notes in both go from root to minor 7th to minor 6th with arpeggios on top but the speed and progression from there are quite different.
I also find listening to solo piano music can get quite dull... I am concerned that overall my album will end up boring even me :)

@milamber - thanks :)

@wiga - your comments are, as ever, welcome and gratefully received! Thanks for your support!

I love reading what people hear in my music... this one goes from sadness with apprehension to a Doctor Zhivago love story...!

Thanks again,
Terry.
