Yesterday I watched STS-121's launch from the live webcast at NASATV.  I had music mixed to it (just winamp playing at appropriate level).

At the exact time the polls started (go! go! go! etc :)), Incantations part1 started.  That was a fantastic intro, the choir underneath the polls.

During the next minutes, the tension in the music rose together with the tension on the launch pad. The music went into a bridge at the moment of engine start, to break open at liftoff.  The theme changed at SRB separation.

It was totally amazing, atmosphere and timing were just perfect throughout the launch (= the whole pt1), and it was a coincidence that winamp picked that mp3 at that moment.

It really enhanced the experience of watching the launch.

"no good (start the dance)" by the Prodigy underlined the massive speed of the later part of the ascent, again a coincidence by Winamp :p

Added to that, the sound recording by NASA was much better, finally with a bass level that gives a hint of the brutalilty of those engines.

Did anyone else watch STS-121, and did they have music on or thought about music at the time?
