This is another of the songs I made for that game project years back but was replaced with an alternate piece. I never shared it here before, but today I was listening to it and decided to do something with it in Reason after years of it just sitting on a backup DVD. The result is fascinating to me. It was originally an all orchestral piece. It's a kind of melancholy piece with a bit of hope in it...I kind of envisioned it as being stuck in repetitious lifestyle rut and feeling the desperation to break free, wondering if it'll ever happen.

Hi,

Overall I really really like it.

The backing and the way it ebbs and fades is great.

However, in my opinion there are 2 things that detract from perfection:
(1) The high violin sound starts off too loud and so it's hard to hear anything else once your ears have latched onto it
(2) The synthesiser sound for the lead tune sounds completely out of place - the whole piece sounds modern and up to date except for that retro synth sound which is to plain and intrusive for the piece of music.

Of course, all IMHO and overall I really like it.

Cheers,
Terry.

Yes, I forgot to mention I'm already pulling out that square wave instrument. I'll replace it with something else. Lowering the volume of the violins is also a good idea. Thanks for the feedback.

I like the mood of this piece a lot.  However, I totally agree with the above comments.  Also, I'd love to hear some guitar on there - maybe playing the lead.  If you'd ever like to collaborate...

I've been toying with the idea of playing guitar on it myself, but I'm currently packing and getting ready to move so that's out of the question. My adapter to my pedal is fried as well and I still need to order a new one. I'll probably do a guitar version in the next month or so.

Anyway, I've got a new version up. Slightly shorter and raw square wave is gone. Same link.

That is a VAST improvement!  It sounds lovely.  My fiancee thinks it's great too!  You've got a lovely piano sound there, as well.

Yes, it was written like that. I'm hoping the rest of my band will like it and use it for something. If not I'll do something with it myself, though I'm no lyricist.

Thanks, everybody.
