:D The tobacco enforcement police, heh heh great stuff.

Most of my friends now don`t smoke.Once was a time you`d go in people`s houses and ask for an ashtray. Then you started asking if it was ok to smoke. And now you don`t even think about asking, because you just know that it is`nt acceptable.I have one friend who lives localy and still smokes, love going round to his house.

The only real answer it would appear now is,don`t smoke!Don`t even start smoking in fact. It`s become so socialy unacceptable now (not to mention the expense of it all) it makes me wonder why young people even bother? And yet after years and years of giving me grief for my own filthy habit,my 18 year old daughter is now doing just that. "I`m only having the odd one now and again" she says.Fan-bloody-tastic.Do they not teach them anything in school?    ;)

My hat goes off to Mike though attempting to teach his own kids.Plus he seems to be also learning himself that one of the advantages of having your own children,is that they are a great means of cheap labour.

He looks happy in that photo.

I've got to agree with him, there are too many silly rules and reguations in British education - very doctrine orientated.

Glad we have a smoking ban in public places though, that seems sensible enough to me, as never did like walking into smoky rooms, although I did smoke myself once in my 20s. My 18 year old daughter admits to having "ONLY the odd one" - when I asked why she carries a lighter round with her  :/.

Well well...

...old pic of Mike and Fanny, btw - where's the suntan? :D

- last Friday one of my classmates (who's from here) was alerted   because he was smoking near the department's entrance, which is not 100% open area(it is covered above) and there was a CCTV camera nearby filming the scene!
Even with the smoking ban,I see many young people smoking, which is a contra-sense!

-Internet and education: even myself, who's doing a MSc,I do rely so much on the internet to get all the scientific paper articles to do my assignments,I don't need to spend hours and hours at my uni's library to do the very same job I can do in my room!

-Loved the economics thingie with Jake,it's important to teach our kids the value of money and work.

-the flood thing...well,me coming from Sao Paulo, where we are so used to floods (once I almost lost a exam at my uni there because of being stuck at home),it's so painful...

-health and safety,oh yeah...tons of cases everyday, some of them seems competely out of tune.

This is my third time here and I have to confess that this country has changed a lot,and not for good in many cases. I did come here to study 'cause I felt that for the area that I've decided to pursue my career wasn't that good at all in Brazil. Luckly my parents and I worked very hard to achieve that!

Nice one, 3Wheeler!

I'm still shaking my head in dismay at the 'daughter Eugenie' bit ;)

It's gone up in Media Coverage now...see you all over there!
