I've seen a couple of comments about how the three Tauruses (Tauri?) have too little in common to deserve the same title, particularly Taurus III (sometimes referred to as "a joke"). It seems that these people assume that it is supposed to be a series of sequels like TB I, II and III. However, I think if anything it is meant to be three parts of one composition, like say Ommadawn pt 1 & 2 and On Horseback. I've burned a CD with all three parts and I think it works beautifully, except perhaps for the fact that Taurus I fades out at the end. Taurus III rounds it off beautifully, not quite unlike On Horseback does on Ommadawn. Actually the three parts together easily form a complete album! I've never seen it treated like that anywhere, though.
Of course, I might be wrong and it's just three unrelated pieces which Mike chose to give the same title in one of his ever uncomprehensible decisions  :p

That's more or less what I think, too, as three parts of a whole, not as "sequels". They might indeed work together well, even though I hate 'Taurus II'. I refer to 'Taurus III' as a "joke" in the same way that 'The Sailor's Hornpipe' is a "joke" in Tubular Bells. I pretty much agree with you.

Mmh... you said so before, and while I don't question your opinion, since everyone is entitled to their own, I did listen to Taurus II specifically with your comments in mind, and tried to figure out just what exactly you might find wrong with it, and frankly I completely failed to hear anything remotely uninspired in it... Well, as I said, to each his own, I'm not expecting any sort of justification for your opinion!
As for the joke thing, yes, it might indeed be seen as an analogy to the Sailor's Hornpipe, or as I said to On Horseback, which, though definitely not a joke, is also meant to end the album on a more light-hearted note.
