TB Intro (Spanish Guitar)

Recorded with my humble La Patrie classical guitar, in three different parts. I realised that I'd never done a TB cover... ever... I hope you enjoy it. Comments are much appreciated.

Great guiar work Khoa! The guitar's sound is OK to me. Couldn't tell it was that humble. Recording quality was good. Did you add reverb to it? It really improves on the resonant tone. Performance was very accurate with no imperfections!

I like your arrangement of the theme, but it kind of has an ambient in the background feel to it due to being stuck in A minor throughout. Towards the end I wasn't giving it my full listening concentration. This was probably your intention, but I was expecting the double-speed git entry to come in and to change the chord progression. However, it was good that you offered your own interpretation and improvisation around it

Other suggestions for classical guitar recordings from me are either a version of Etude more truer to the original Tarrega composition, or you could have a go at the arrangement of Taurus 3 and the lullaby theme from Amarok that Mike played on TV-AM (?) - there's a recording of it going around the web. I remember Ricken incorporated it into one of his MO medleys

You know, I think I might suggest something just a little simpler to start with! I'd not discourage anyone from learning 'Recuerdos de la Alhambra' as it's a fantastic piece, and it's not as impossible to play as it might seem to someone hearing it for the first time, but it's also quite demanding, especially of right hand technique (once you've mastered that, it's relatively straightforward). Not one to expect to be able to learn in a week or two, if the technique is new to you.

Anyway, back to Tubular Bells. It does have an ambient feel, which is nice, and the melody guitar seems to almost float over the top of the rest (I think it lags behind a little in some places, but I'll forgive that!).

If you want to try something more demanding, I've written out a tab of some of the solo version of Sentinel which I could no doubt send in your direction.
