I have just heard the rumour that the DVD-A release has been delayed till January thanks to problems with the authoring - anyone else heard this?

Here's the goss from my "source" !!
--------------------------
It was reported at:

http://www.musictap.net/

Look in the Bumps section on the right of the web page and there's a mention of it being bumped to Jan 13. Click on it to get more detail.

Of course, it could be possible that they author the DVD-A separately for UK / US releases but I'd be surprised if thats the case.

Also, in the archives section of MusicTap it reports:

"Mike Oldfield's expected DVD-Audio of Tubular Bells 2003 will be delayed a tad as it is continuing its authoring process. The disc is now expected on January 13. "

MusicTap generally gets all its stuff from the main source and is pretty reliable.

And what is an authoring process ?

For someone who doesn't even have a DVD player (and less a DVD A player), and won't buy the TB2003 DVD-A. But who is just interested.

The process by which they encode the material onto the disc (as far as I know!;)

I don't have DVD-A either but will be buying the disc for its TB demos which I can at least hear in stereo!

And it takes them months to choose how they will encode in a standardised format ? Weird... :O

My trusty Pioneer CD deck (bought in 1994) is starting to look a little rusty. LOL *sigh* Dunno if I want to jump ship on it just yet...not until more stuff is released in this new format. This is another tantalizing reason, though.

Can I perhaps upgrade my ears as well so I can hear all them extra 48khz? ;)

The new official date being given by Warner via Noble PR is November 24th. I'm sure they'll find a way to drag it out until January, though  :/
