As a result of recent topics about Mike's Telecaster for sale, and the confusion over electric guitars Mike played recording Tubular Bells, since visiting Tubular.net I've found out the Telecaster was the only electric Mike used.    I had a look at my LP copy of Tubular Bells out of curiosity, I was directed to this page  www.tubular.net/disography/TubularBells.shtml .

Upon Richard's discography it has the legend "This stereo record cannot be played on oldtin boxes no matter what they are fitted with. If you are in posession of such equipment please hand it into the nearest police station".  My LP copy of Tubular Bells doesn't have this written upon the sleeve, but instead has "In Glorious Stereophonic Sound
Can also be played on mono equipment at a pinch",written just below the Virgin logo.    Are there pressings with   variations  of the text???  :/ .  I would say my LP dates from the mid 70's, has    a green centre label with the "Two Virgins"  logo.

BTW I thought playing a stereo record on mono equipment could damage the record, not that I've needed to do this,  but I can play my mono first two Rolling Stones LP's,plus  "England's Newest Hitmakers" US edition of"TheRolling Stones no.2" and EP's and early Stones 45's on stereo equipment, not that I have a record deck ATM.  I'm just curious as to why this is.

My beloved old "Tubular Bells" LP purchased by my brother during that time around 1974 when Mike Oldfield secured his place as a one-hit-wonder Exorcist guy over here happens to have the statements on it. This was the commonly available one at the time.

I'm a fool, but I'm laughing  , Just looked on my  two LPs of Tubular Bells,  both have "This record cannot  be played on old tin boxes no matter what they are fitted with. If you are in possession of such equipment please hand it in at the nearest police station."
I couldn't see it before, maybe it's old age setting in    ,or I need new glasses.  It's written in the bottom corner, aginst the darker blue background of the sea/beach,the black text on that shade of blue doesn't show up very well.
