Is there any Mike's tune that the lyrics,or the music(or maybe both), means
a lot to you, that you say,"that´s my song!"?

Mine:Amarok,Poison Arrows,Crises.

Islands.

It's not that the lyrics or the music mean anything particularily special to me, but it's one of my alltime favs. :)

Only Time Will Tell. The style of music in that song is exactly the style I love listening to (why I love TSODE). Can't say the music did anything for me that I'm thankful for (other than letting me discover it :D), so it is also just my all time fav!

I thought "Hey, that's my tune..." on first hearing 'Berlin 2000'...not because it meant anything particularly special to me, but because he used several ideas I'd used in a piece a few years earlier (that'll be Mike getting his own back for me slinging bits of Tubular Bells into live improvisations). Funny the way the world works ;)

I can catagoricaly say without question and without doubt that 'Music From The Balcony' is my tune. This is because a) I love it, its bonkers, its imaginative, it sounds like a mad soundtrack to some unmade movie. b) Its got some amazing playing on it from all involved and the lush production by Tom Newman is outstanding. And finaly c) Because I'm the only one who thinks all this of it (so it would seem anyway) but I don't care that you all hate it thats your loss and not mine, I'll just have it all to myself. Its not the greatest piece of MO music but for me its up there.  1991 was a good year for me and this was my soundtrack to it. Cheers Mike.

well... just to say u are not all alone on that... if u lent me a small place in it, we could share it :D... as i've recently said on some other near topic, 'music from the balcony' is the only one i would save from heaven's open , it's one of those pieces of music i come back from time to time
at least we are two in the world... :O  :p

There was a long season where 'Crime of Passion' qwas my tune after a close friend took her life in a crime of passion (nothing to do with me I may add!!!;). There were uncanny similarities in the lyrics - same age, situation, even the picture on the front looked like her! :/

Well, I'm not sure.  :p

The Berlin 2000 lightshow music is the single most amazing guitar piece ever, so I would have it here. Far Above the Clouds, another amazing guitar piece, is also on the list. Crystal Clear from TSODE, b-sides Afghan and In the Pool, as well as Outcast from TBIII and No Dream from HO, all for the amazing guitar (do you notice a pattern forming here?  )

i’d like to add two more to the list ‘my tune‘ (i can’t just remain hold to one... that’s why i spoke about seasons.... it depends on so many things...) i also appreciate a lot the lyrics on ‘talk about your life’, the way it is written and what it says and for a short instrumental... ‘jungle gardenia’, this is imho a tiny jewel.

toby, thanks for inviting me to that gorgeus virtual club, it'll be a honour to join, and u gave me a crazy idea... what do you think about a first event for its foundation? :D
on saturday (could be some time around midnight... zulu time :D) we could have that drink together (u from scotland and me from spain) for the health of mftb and get our hand up to cheer for music itself and for the power of communication... (everything's so close and at the same time so distant and unreal)  and... also for the soon coming spring. i’ll do it.
:)

I'd love to join you Maria but can we make it Sunday night instead? I'm going away this weekend. We could make it early evening if you like. Anybody else want to join us?

I'd have to go with either Top of the Morning or Far Above the Clouds. I love both pieces. in fact, in my junior year of high school we had to do a music paper in my intro to psychology class. we were supposed to find a piece of music that reflected our lives, and i picked "Secrets / Far Above the Clouds". just how it starts off with a small tune, and leads up and up until the climax and then dies off at the end. it resembled how i grew up, kept growing, will grow, and then of course reach the end. it was a real neat paper, and FATC just seemed to fit it so good.
