Hi

After lurking on these boards for a while, reading the many interesting comments, I thought it was about time I joined and shared some of my own music, influenced and inspired by Mike Oldfield.

My favourite pieces by Mike are Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Taurus II and Amarok, which may give you some idea of the kind of music I create.

I've just uploaded a 50 minute instrumental piece called "The Dreamland Tree" to YouTube and would really appreciate your comments and criticisms.

I've been working on the piece for around three years and it's undergone many transformations. The latest version, and the one I'm most happy with, was recorded this Autumn and Winter.

The music is available at:

I hope you enjoy it!

Dreamland -  this is a lovely piece of work - Part1 and Part2.

The start of Part1 reminds me of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory theme tune.

Thanks Wiga - if you're referring to Danny Elfman's music, then I was quite conscious during writing and recording that some of the choral sounds were rather "Elfmaneseque" :)

I've made a couple of shorter excerpts available for those you can't (or don't fancy) sampling a 50 minute piece.

Here they are:

So here is the final version, a little different in parts to that uploaded to YouTube.

I've uploaded it as one continuous work, which was the original intention.

Putting this one to bed now and starting work on the next piece

Hi Dreamland

I will have to comment with a number of posts as will take me a while to listen to your epic. However, I;m on soundcloud at the moment listening to this gorgeous piece of music. I'm 5 minutes in and lappping it up!

Quite frankly if the first few minutes are anything to go by then you deseve a slot all on your own on the fans album!

This truly is a Mike Oldfield inspired piece of music. I'm just getting to those lush strings.... 8 mins in ....nice!

Hi Dreamland

I'm really enjoying this.
I can see this being played a great deal in this house.
It not only has the M.O influence but a real Celtic flavour comes drifting through.

Cheers K.S
