Heya! Well, if Mike re-records TB... I re-recorded TFB... and I finished it first!  ;)

hehe now serious. Some of you might remember a track I did a long while ago called "The Flying Bell" faturing the "Flying" melody by The Beatles and "The Bell" musical base by Mike Oldfield. I made that in a time when my sound card wasn´t good and I knew nothing about recording... now, I still know nothing about recording, but the sound card is better (aha! soundfonts are the greatest!;) So, this is called "The Flying Bell II". I´d like some comments from you all and of course, aim your tomatoes here... ;)

You can find it here:

http://home.t-online.de/home/Terry.Hoax/Keol_-_The_FLying_Bell_2.mp3 Not any more you can't, try here: http://home.arcor.de/sannif/Keol_-_The_FLying_Bell_2.mp3 - Korgscrew

(There´s a karaoke version for those interested) ;)

Greetings

José Miguel Serrano
Keol

A fun idea - the combination of tunes works well. Parts like the guitars playing the main riff have what I think is quite an authentic Tubular Bells feel to them. A little Mike Oldfield style trick with the bells, by the way, would be to record several layers of them (in octaves, for example) for a more powerful sound.
Having drums come in at the end is a nice touch.

The idea of the karaoke version is tempting... ;)

Hello! I'm new on the forum and I want to say all "Hi!".

I always think the keol's work is fantastic. Flying Bell is a perfect record of the original pieces of Mike. :)

Congratulations!

MaX.

Here come the tomatoes! :D

At the 5th minute, it gets fine: nice tune, nice construction...
But before that 5th minute, I don't like it very much. It seems so plain, so empty... Maybe because I don't like the Beatles?

I don't like the Beatles theme too much, especially when it's in the foreground with Mike's stuff in the background... ;) The track gets better when you are less influenced by those animals, and let it go with your electric guitar... really great.

Well, I like this tune, because the oldfieldish music is not in the foreground all the time and also because it's no simply 1:1 copy (something that sounds even more horrible if people try to sound like Mike in their own composed tunes and lose their own spirit/feelings this way)....

The Beatles theme is a bit lame, but your variations are fun.
I like the piano sound very much!

This is a very interesting combo: I never would have imagned they would go together as well as they did! This is a really amazing song, I also like the solo after the bells come in. Brilliant.

"Doesn't work either" ?

The one before worked perfectly as t-offline recognized it....
;)

The problem with the actual link is, that someone -let's call him "Mr. Idiotic"- downloaded the file more than 50 times in 4 days from the new location.
As I moved it to arcor, i still had about 130 MB of traffic free, which should fit for 20 downloads - enough IMO for a file that already was available for dl from another place since 3 weeks.
But on the 21st of January I got an email that my monthly allowed traffic was exceeded of 240 MB, which means 360 MB traffic for 1 file of about 6,5 MB in 4 days.....
I wonder if some people download something, then don't like it and delete it, then try it again (of course they have to dl it again), dislike it again, delete it again and so on and so on....

Anyway, the file will be up again on the 1st of February, as my monthly allowed traffic of 1 GB is reset then.

There's still a "karaoke" version (without keol announcing the instruments) available

here

Greetz,

dkay

File finaly moved OFFLINE as I need the webspace/traffic for other things. It was available for 1/2 year now for dl, time enough IMHO.

But making it self extracting means it can't be opened on non-microsoft platforms, doesn't it?
