I remember first listening to it and thinking "OH MY GOD! WHATS THIS!!!!". It sounded so crazy and totally mad!

Forward on a few years and it sounds soooooo NORMAL now!

Funny that you seem to lose that insane feeling as you get used to the album.

That's because you're no longer surprised to hear funny voices, loud synth stabs or unexpected changes in the music. I suppose in some strange way it even starts to make sense in your mind.  It took me a while to get used to as well, so you're certainly not alone.

I remember listening to it for the first time and I almost hit the ceiling when I heard that door-banging sound
It's still quite an unusual album, but hey, we're not cloth-eared nincompoops ;)

Oh, yeah, I read that you're not a fan of the album. Well, being an Olfield fan alone proves that you're not a nincompoop!! It's not music for everyone, I mean, my classmates don't understand me when talking about music :D

Hmmm. Well I've been trying to enjoy the album ever since it was released, and somehow was never able to abandon the attempt. Spending so much time listening to a piece of music I dislike would qualify me for a degree in nicompoopness, I think.  :/

I think the funny thing about Amarok is after so many years listening to it, it still supprises me, and I still find new things in it, I like that, I don't want to know all it's complexities straight away, I like discovering new things about it after many years.
