I came across something the other day that at the time I found amusing but as the hours have passed I believe I am rather rattled by it. On the itunes website I browsed Mike Oldfield & someone reviewed Tubular Bells, referring to Mike as ' the Bell Banger '  :/  Outrageous! Now, what's got me upset by this is that it's a throw away comment ( we all make them ) & not meant to be at all derogatory I'm sure, but it is actually so very far from the truth and could mislead people. I should write a review myself ( we all should!!;) to itunes to put the balance right. I doubt it would unclog the cloth earredness among the nincompoops though.

He may be a bell banger  :O  but as we all know here, he is so much more.

A melody maker, a soundsmith, a musical maestro, a guitar guru, an accomplshed composer...

I'll probably now find out that one of you wrote it & I'll have to eat my own words!

I see what you're getting at, bee, but after eleven hundred billion albums with a 4-shaped tubular bell and the name "Mike Oldfield" on the cover, I don't think people have much of an option... :)

I've always liked "The Lord of the Bells"   (don't know who "invented" this name)

Would be a good name for a boxset with the whole MO catalogue...

How about "Platinum-Selling Artist"? He wrote it, he sold it - seems a pretty fair description to me...  :p
