The Proms is an annual classical music festival, held through the summer in The Royal Albert Hall, London. It was founded by Henry Wood in 1895 and is a major event in the classical music calendar. It celebrates a vast range of classical & contemporary music , many orchestras, artists, musicians & conductors ~ I believe even Soft Machine have played there back in the 70's ( a tenuous link with Mike Oldfield there)
So my question is how likely do you think it is that Mike could one day be a part of it? ( assuming he'd want to be ).
I personally think it could work very well for him, giving him the right platform to show his talents as a composer & performer. With the new album, possibly in a classical vein, it could bring about some well deserved recognition. His work needs to be appreciated properly in the right atmosphere with a guaranteed audience that is there for the music.
For anyone interested the BBC broadcast much of th Proms, and you can read a little more on it here
It's really not all stuffy and exclusive ( I don't think ) it's all about the music, which I feel is the important bit.
