Hi you organ fans!
Seems that maybe I'am the one who has (& sometimes use) a Lowrey. I bought it one or two years ago not very expensive & it looks very 60's or perhaps 70's home organ style (spinet organ type), wooden, 2x three-and-a-half octaves manuals, 1one octave bass pedal. Only presets of course, all with typical names (4' flute, 16' flute, clarinet, trumpet, etc.) plus a sort of delay (just a longer sort of sound) & different virbrato. Built-in speakers (no Lesley, no OUTPUT!!!. It's from early 60s. And the sound? Well, it's charming, soft, but sometimes also very cristall-clear. Very good examples are the David Bedford album "The rime of the ancient mariner" (great record - MO also played on two or three bits guitar...). As on no MO record you find the exact name/type/number of the organs, it is very hard to find out whether it is some closer retated or not. Also the Lowrey company does'nt seem to be very proud of their history , so I only have this instrument to relate. Hammonds: I suggest that the hard accents on side one (3:46 / 3:51 /3:55 / 3:59) are very hammondisch. 14:18 - 14:36: isn't that a Hammond, too? from 8:20 you can hear two organ sounds, the louder one (more on the left channel) seems to be a Lowrey to me (?)... (maybe both). From 10:08 - 11:16 there is one more in the background. This seems to be typical the Lowrey-sound. Side two, 5:26 - ca. 8:00 ("Peace" on the 2003-version...), two organs, one lead does to me sound so, too. Yes, comparing it in real-time to the organ here, its Lower Manual, Cornet 8' ! Without any effects. The new version has the guitar as lead instrument & to me it's a bit bloodless...! If someone is hardly interested I can record some sounds of my instrument & send it via email. Let me know: thomas.waltner@gmx.de BTW: Would be a great job to definatly find out where he used which instrument...
