Hi, just wondered if any of you guys are into the Waterboys? If you like the celtic sounding aspects of Mikes work, you will love these. Oh yeah, and talk about catchy tunes. Try these albums, you wont be disappointed.

Room to Roam
Fishermans Blues
This is the Sea
Dream Harder.

The one most of you will have heard is the Whole of the Moon!!! Hey its that moon again.  :)

The Waterboys are my favourite band - not only do they make great records but they are astonishing live as well.  They have these well crafted songs but are masters of improvisation and they all have this 6th sense about where each one is about to go next musically.  Extraordinary.  I often leave their shows all wrung out.  Steve Wickham, the fiddle player, is an amazing musician.  He barely has to sound a note from his violin and I'm sobbing like a baby.  With delight though, not pain!

If ever they are playing near you, go see 'em, you will NOT be disappointed!

And buy Fisherman's Blues, Room to Roam, Universal Hall and the new one which is due out soon!

Jules

World Party - Bang is another favourite album of mine and i hae only recently bought Bring Em All In by Mike Scott...Great taste in music Jules !! :)

Hi Jules, you ok now?

This is an extract from the Waterboys website about the new album...

WATERBOYS LIVE ALBUM COMING IN SEPTEMBER
Apr 25th

The Waterboys first ever official live album will be released this coming September. Mike and soundman Chris Madden are currently doing the final mixes. The recordings are from the 2003 and 2004 tours, and feature both the 5-piece full band (Carlos Hercules and Steve Walters on drums and bass) and the 3-man acoustic line-up. Mike has chosen 13-tracks, and the album, as yet untitled, will be a single CD. We don't have the tracklist yet but the album is understood to include full band versions of "The Pan Within", "Long Way To The Light" and "Glastonbury Song" and several acoustic tracks including "Come Live With Me" and "The Return Of Jimi Hendrix". It will be on the band's own Puck Records. We'll give you more details as we get them.

Well, i`m sold on it already!!!   :)

Yeah thanks I'm about 85% well now!

That live version of Long Way To The Light is staggering!  I can't wait....

A remastered Fisherman's Blues deluxe package, a tour DVD and a new studio album from the Waterboys are all rumoured for the next year or so too - I sure hope we get them all!  :)
