Listen to the opening theme of To France. I have the feeling that it appears (in variations) in almost every other track of Discovery, too. Which places can you find?

The theme appears clearly in Talk about Your Life (I noticed it when I was listening it for the first time).

But in the other tracks I don't know... It's interesting. Maybe in Poison Arrows when they are singing 'hiding in shadows, poison arrows' or 'coming in closer'. Maybe in Crystal Gazing between 00:45-00:55. In Discovery the tune at 00:57-01:08 or 01:47-01:58. Any other ideas?

Thanks Man In Rain, yes these are some places where the thing I'm talking about happens.

I made an experiment: I listen to the whole album, and each time a solo starts, I start humming or whistling that theme. Or imagine some strings play it softly in the background. In my ears, it works! It's fun!

You can do that with other pieces as well...

Incantations part 3 intro over the beginning of Ommadawn anyone? wink

Ommadawn Part One Intro over The Source Of Secrets (from 02:47)!
It works...

Discovered something else:
Listen to North Star (Platinum) and sing the chorus of Talk About Your Life (Discovery) over it. It works...

Well, I'll be the next one to revive the topic... it's just occured to me that the Discovery theme is based around the chord sequence Em, D, Bm7, Em as mentioned in the reference guide.

The more I think about it, the more I realise that this sequence appears *everywhere*... as well as the ones mentioned on that page, it also appears here in Discovery, the Ommadawn theme, Sentinel in TB2... much of Incantations part 4 (such as the xylophone section) is based on something similar, too.

Hi Shingebis,
the same sequence was used for the Sondela/faso theme in Amarok. Most clearly from 44:46 where it appears in Ebm. But also in many other places.
