Here is my latest track that is doing pretty well (much to my supprise ) on Garage band. I have had some possitive reviews. Its a great way of showcasing music and getting constructive feedback.

I must say the lack of feedback on here of late is dissapointing. :/

I tried to check out the song, actually, but when I click on "Download MP3" under the song, the page at garageband that it is supposed to go to comes up missing (browser missing-page error).

How strange... I found it, saved it and I'm listening to it just now.
Great, great song - and superb acoustic guitar playing. Congrats, Ian. Are you the only member of the band Marbury or is anyone else playing with you?

I'm listening to it for the third time, now, as I write this, enjoying it more with each listen. There's some really lovely acoustic guitar playing, as Ugo observed. It ripples along mellifluously, with a light and delicate touch.

The composition itself is very good too. My only question (and I think this may be a very personal thing) is whether it would benefit from some slight editing. There are one or two passages where the melody seems to sit on one note for a long time, and I find myself wishing those episodes were a bit shorter. I can see that they're necessary in order to build up the tensions in the piece - but their duration is just a tad too long for my taste.

But I want to make it clear that I'm nit-picking. I think this is a superb piece of music exactly as it stands.

Thanks folks. Some feedback at last  :D

Yes, I have posted it on Garage Band and lots of people seem to say the same thing

1, The intro is too long

2, It could be a soundtrack to a desert/western movie.

3, Some parts go on too long.

I am onto it already. I am always tweeking things and never seem to be satisfied.

Thanks again for the comments. Its always good to hear your views.

Ian

PS, Yes, Marbury is just me. Its a place I love and the name has a nice ring and I also like to hide behind a name  ;)

I listened to it; decided to play without downloading. I never thought I'd hear something that would remind me of both "Wall of Voodoo" and Mike Oldfield at the same time. I love it, and am actually one of those who doesn't think that the intro or other sections drag. In fact, I'd love to download it so I have a version that isn't tampered with later by shortening it.

I don't know why you couldn't download it on Myspace as the option is there.

Its also on Garage band http://www.garageband.com/artist/Hubballi where you can download it.  It's a good way to get feedback as musicians review each other's work but you do get the odd clown who gives an unfair review. I started off with 4.2 stars but then I got 2 or 3 who were biased that it wasn't a song as I placed it in acoustic. I would have thought acoustic would cover anything made acousticly DOH!!!

I have to agree, but even so, the track is really good, the acoustic guitar sounds excellent. Although not entirely the same style, I can't get thoughts of the Gerudo valley tune from the game 'Zelda: Ocarina of Time' out of my head when I listen to Three Cliffs.
With or without editing, this is a really good piece of music, well done, and thankyou for sharing it.

There's a bug in the Garageband site. One way to try to download it involves clicking on the green arrow by "Three Cliffs". This brings up a small popup window. The download MP3 link on this is broken (produces a page not found error). However, if you click instead of the name of the "Three Cliffs" track, it brings up a full window that has a working "Download MP3" link.
