I'd have to say diet coke or beer.

Chili Con Carne with Beans
Peaches in Light Syrup
SPAM Lite
Smoked Baby Clams
Mini Ravioli
Black Olives
Cream of Mushroom Soup
Smokehouse Almonds

That's all I can think of, for now.

Ahhh no anything but Pek..Everytime I visit my grandmother`s house she always gives me a tin of Pek,and a packet of ginger biscuits that she gets off the Rington`s Tea Man.I mean I`ve tried to tell her that nobody in the house really eats the stuff, and that it`s no longer 1968 anymore. But she just wont have it,bless her heart. It`s getting to the stage now where I dare not open the cupboard door for fear of being bludgeoned to death in a great tinned luncheon avalanche.I mean what the hell is that jelly stuff all about anyway that you get with it.Does it serve any function whatsoever other than to make you go "uuurrgghhh yak pfffff".You would`nt serve the stuff with custard and give it to the kids would you?

Ok I`ll say pineapple and/or grapefruit in juice(not syrup or jelly)   :p

Edit...Well my wife has just peered over my shoulder there to tell me that she actualy likes Pek and that I don`t know what I`m talking about.Still does`nt explain why there`s about 350 tins of it in the cupboard though.

Yes I wipe the jelly off. It's there to keep the Pek Chopped Pork juicy.

How about tinned Fray Bentos pies ? I love those - even the slimy layer of pastry under the crispy bit.

Pek Chopped Pork
Fray Bentos Pie (Steak and Ale)
Beans (Heinx)
Mandarins or peaches (nice in a trifle)
Tomatoes (with bacon and sauage)
Green olives stuffed with garlic (also black)

One of the worst canned food is peas - they look and taste awful. I like to use frozen peas (which are good) for lots of things such as salads and casseroles.

Matt, I've never heard of "Bacon Grill". Is it like SPAM?

Can't do peas, no no....."Veg-all" has some peas tho. I like to throw a can or 2 into things like Jambalaya or spaghetti to give them some......illusion of healthiness. Viva Veg-all!!
What would be fun....and there is a MO tie-in here. The Exorcist and Linda Blair's hurling........Go out in the woods with my 12 gauge shotgun and a bunch of cans of peas, well carrots too(I detest them).....oh shit, pumpkin pie filling too(I'm getting nauseous already)......you can picture the colorful results of such an outing.

Sortof. Tin of this:

cooked to perfection like this (but with ketchup):

Weird but according to the wikipedia article it might even have some meat in it. Probably don't want to think what bits of the animal mind you...

A former workmate of mine has a Facebook page completely dedicated to the appreciation of Fray Bentos pies. :p I`m not on Facebook though,so I`ve never been on to have a look at it.Apparently it`s a quite well visited page though.

Yes, I agree moonchildhippy - canned pineapple is one of my faves, as well. But I find the word "chunks" a tad unsavory, and that might stem from when I first heard the euphemism 'hurling chunks' for vomiting. In any case, I prefer slices since they're easier to add to sandwiches.

Oooooooo sometimes I absolutely lust after chickpeas! Yummmmy, indeed!  I also like Wolfgang Puck's organic vegetarian soups and spicy vegetarian refried beans. Black beans, too. I feel a recipe coming on!  A favorite dip--plaster some refried beans on a plate, dump some sour cream on top of that, then a can of black beans, make some guacomole (chop an avacado, garlic, a bit of tomatoes and onion if you want--if I'm making it for this recipe, I don't add mayo), then crumble or spoon that on...then heep a bunch of grated mild cheese--Monterrey Jack or Colby works well. Then dump hot salsa all over it, and top with chopped olives. Serve with taco chips. It may sound really caloric but I use low-fat ingredients and often baked taco chips. It is really very healthy. :)

Ooops--guacomole then black beans!

Canned fruit is OK. Tangerines are usually nice. And pears.
In some countries they have canned eggs. Ewww...
