I have a doubt about this. You know what I'm talking about - when the sound of one track goes on into the next track. I have something like that in the album I made myself, and I had trouble burning it the way I wanted. I use Nero Burning ROM, and through all the experiments I made, I found out that if every WAV ended EXACTLY at the end of a frame (1 second = 75 frames, you know), the seguéing would be flawless. This worked for a while, but I still had problems. One track ends with a long, constant HUM, that follows into the other track. But using the WAV tactic was innefective: it went hummm*POP*mmmm at the break of the track. When I analysed the recorded audio, I found out the wave was corrupted where the track break was, however it was perfect before burning. The alternative I found was to make the whole album as one gigantic WAV, and then use Nero to "split" it into 13 distinct tracks. I just don't know what corrupted the wave in that case - was it Nero? Or it's just something that happens when burning CDs? The task of "splitting" a WAV into tracks is kinda annoying, y'know. If any of you could answer this to me, I'd be thankful. :)

Something like this often happened to me with Nero, with all kinds of music files [wavs, oggs, mp3s], so I guess it's just Nero's fault. :)

For me, Cakewalk Pyro has been very effective at making compilations where I can segue the tracks together.  You can drag the tracks around, and it shows you right on the screen where the beginning and end of each track is.  I have not used Nero, so I can't compare the two.

My Own album has a piece that was an hour long that I wanted to be indexed into 10 or more parts.
I created the wav as one file.
in the first part of the mastering process (which was done at a mastering studio) all the bugs were fixed using protools and several expensive plugins and a lot of carefull listening. But it was still one track.
the next part was done with some software that finishes the final layout of the album including lead times etc. and it was still kept as one file. But at at the end of the file is the information that tells the player to go to the next index.
The music you hear is one file with a bit of coding at the end.
This software is not cheap (yet)

This any Help?

Yeah, I think it is. I've heard about using "indexing" instead of separation by tracks, but I don't know how that works.

I was just intrigued at why the waves were distorted like that. I guess it's indeed Nero's fault, so I should just stick to the "one WAV" process that I'm used to already.

Thanks. :)

I had a similar task when I burned my tracked copy of Amarok - I first ripped the CD to one large wav file, and loaded this in WinOnCD, which did the job by allowing to set track marks at arbitrary points in the (unsplit) wav file. I guess WinOnCD took good care of the rest, filling up track blocks and settig null track gaps as needed, since the finished CD worked without any problems (at least on my old CD player).
Ironically, any new player I tried so far insists on inserting gaps at track marks :/
Anyone with a recent Pioneer (565/656/...) player who can tell me if these play e.g. TSODE/TBII/TBIII/TB2003 without skipping at the track marks?

My Pioneer player, although a bit old [or maybe just because of this... :)], doesn't skip at all at track marks on any original CDs, Mike's or not Mike's. But it regularily skips on CDs I made with Nero. As I said, it's basically Nero's fault.

You must remember that each track must end PRECISELY at the end of a frame, or else the burning software will be FORCED to fill it with null space until it reaches the following frame to burn the other track. If the tracks end at random places, there will be gaps. That happens with any burner, not only with Nero.

I have used Cool Edit Pro to join the separate tracks, do any necessary corrections, and then split them again, each one ending exactly at the end of a frame. But after Nero screwed up like that, I won't split the tracks beforehand anymore.

I have at least two software programs that will let you drop in track markers wherever you want.  One has a requirement that they be at least 4 seconds apart.  Both burn flawlessly, with no gaps or unwanted silent spots.  I don't have any programs that show me where the file frames are, so I'm not sure if these programs are doing something behind the scenes or not.
