The 50th Anniversary edition of Music Week features Tubular Bells in the official Top-Selling UK albums 1959-2009 at No. 35, noting it as the only entry that did not yield a hit single. Sales in the UK are listed as 2,630,000. There are also other mentions of the early days of Virgin and Tubular Bells throughout the magazine.

Thanks, Chris Simmons

Not entirely on topic, but I really was surprised to see a copy of Tubular Bells on vinyl on display at my local electronics store the other day... yes, I know there's a new version out but it was still a surprise to see it on display.

Only half Olly?Come to think of it you can't have cos i have 75%!
I am going to do a survey of my flat and find every picture of that bloody bell symbol and count them up.Between the vinyl (including the picture disk)and all the cds,the Oldfield Music symbols and all the stuff in print it should be quite some figure! There again i'll probably not bother and just sit down and listen to it again.

Ehh, when did they stop counting ?

If that has been before the re-release, then there should be at least 2,630,528 copies now

Well, they are obviously not counting the 2,000,000+ copies given away free with The Mail on Sunday a couple of years back either.
