So we have:

Tubular Bells
Tubular Bells II
Tubular Bells III
The Millennium Bell
Tubular Bells 2003 *

What's next?

Tubular Bells XP
Tubular Bells Vista
Tubular Bells 7

* Note: TB 2003 is a patch to fix problems with TB.

 Yeah beware service pack four imo...

Continuing on a kind of Bill Gates type theme I guess. How about a kind of inter-active version of Tubular Bells? You know purely just a musical thing though and not related to Mike`s games projects.I`m thinking along the lines of Mike`s UMix experiment on L&S,except a lot more accessible and adventerous than that. You could maybe download guitar parts etc from diferent people. And kind of make up your own mix of Tubular Bells using Mike`s basic template as the backdrop.Except you would have access to every track from the original master-tapes.So you could shuffle stuff around,or make your own re-mixes completely seperate from the whole etc.You know they should make the whole software so Joe Average could use it with consumate ease is what I`m driving at.And no holding back as well, get lots of effects and generators on there so you could change the whole sound of stuff if you wanted to.I`m sure there would be a fair few Frankenstein`s Tubular Monsters as a result of that. But that would kind of be part of the whole fun of it as well. Would be quite a cool thing to do for a 40th anniversary or something I feel. And would kind of be in keeping with some of Mike`s more unique and groundbreaking experiments he has tried in the past.

They could do it the video game way:
  • Tubular Bells: TURBO
  • EXTREME Tubular Carnage
  • Tubular Party
  • Final Tubular Bells
  • Final Tubular Bells XII
  • Ninja Bells
  • Super Tubular Fight
  • BATTLE BELLS
  • Bells of Rage
  • Tubular Takedown!
  • Grand Tubular Master

(I'm not too proud to say... I did get some ideas from the Video Game Name Generator)

For that list to be complete, you'd need about 10 titles beginning with "space".

- Space Tubes
- Space Bells
- Space Tube Bells
- Space Bell Tubes
- etc.

I've heard Mike will be recording an album-trilogy, called "The Lord of the Bells"...
The 3 albums will be :
1) The Fellowship of the Oldfield
2) The Two Mikes
3) The Return of the Oldfield

To be followed by:

4. The Tubular Appendices to include "The Line of the House of Bells", "The Tale of Tubular Years" (a chronology of the First, Second, and Third Tubular Ages), and "Pronunciation of Words and Names in Sheba-ese".
5. The Sentinelrillion

Oh gawd, I'm a nerd.

ETA: Errr...  I guess that should be "Piltdown-ese" since "Sheba" wasn't even in TB.

No, he wants to go back to videogames again. Currently working on the following projects:

Wii Bells - use your Wii-mote to hit those bells in time to the music. An easter egg in the game allows you to also use the wii balance board to simulate waving your lighter in the air to live footage of The Millenium Bell (I saw the packaging, it has a warning about not burning your ceiling...)

Hells Bells for PS3 - a follow-on to the exorcist theme where you hit possessed zombies over the head with long thin metal tubes

And a PC/Xbox 360 strategy title called Tubular Sells where you try and take over record shops selling punk music.

I tend to leave well alone of these kind of threads, a bit flummoxing and too 'clever' for me with the puns and play on words....

But Matt you've captured my imagination there with your Hells Bells etc, and your attention to detail and specifics of the workings along side. I'm intrigued, like I was with Dick Van Dike and his inventions on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...     :O

How did you become so cynical? Have a mental health day and listen to Music of the Spheres, Voyager and QE2. You will soon feel happy, relaxed and mellow without having to reach for a beer or a reefer. Please take this message lightly. It is not meant as criticism,

Cheers

Oh ek I see what you mean, that can come across as a bit cynical. I was meaning that I love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the invention Stuff.   Great music score and scariest villain too.   :)

Off topic again... sorry... :D

@ Tayniee: forgive my ignorance, but what is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Seeing that you mentioned Dick Van Dyke, it sounds like it is a (Disney?) movie. Is it?

@ ProjectZ & Sweetpea: quite some time ago, Tim Highfield wrote a Mike-styled (but unfortunately short-lived) LOTR parody called "Lord of the Bells" somewhere here in the tubular.net forums. I can't find it anymore, though... maybe it's been deleted...  :/

And at what point does the expiring Branson confess, "Mike. I am your father."  ??  Actually, I've just had a vision of tubular bell lightsabres.  Ooooh....neon ones. Maybe green and red lawn ones for Yule. Not to mention RB and MO dolls. Maybe they could be kitsch, i.e., pull a string and they say something.  (-; What would Mike say? "You know I don't like why questions." Among other things. :D

I think Mike should start making Tubular Bells anagram albums:

Subtle All Rub

Balls Lute Rub

Able Blur Lust

and the classic "Bare Bull Slut" 2008 remix album

Peace,
Bleat.
