Just wondering if anyone here knows where I can get hold of a Tubular Bells lapel badge?  I bought one years ago from the 'Dark Star' fanzine thing, and refused to wear it because I was afraid to lose it.  Time went by and I decided to wear it, which I have done, very proudly for about four months...four months, that's all...even went to Florence for a week with it on show...and what has happened now?

I've lost it  :/ It definitely came back with me to England, but it must have fallen off my coat somewhere. Have hunted around but I think I have to admit it has gone...hope someone finds it and is curious about it! Might even introduce someone new to the music?

I feel lost without it though and it's even more frustrating because I don't know if it will be possible to get another.  I loved it too, beautiful blue and golden yellow tubular bells symbol, and only 1.5cm or so diameter...perfect.

Just thought I'd ask :)

Sorry to hear the Bee.
Maybe it's time to lash out on a TB tattoo like Tati and myself.
Lot harder to loose  :D

...this is true :) Milamber, but, though I admire tattoos, and find them quite interesting,  I know I really don't want one...I'm a bit too old now...

it's my own silly fault for wearing it every day, I guess

Bee - with you on this one.

Like looking at tattoo's but not convinced anyone else would like to see me with one.

But I too would love a lapel badge.

Any fans out there with an artistic/manufacturing background want to take our money?

Unless they were earrings, I remember tiny bells on sale at Wembley in 1999.  Another tour may inspire someone to take a chance on a large batch - perhaps a specialist commission is the best hope for now.  See what one of those vendors who bend metal into names says!

I had three TB necklaces, which I bought at Wembley (Then & Now tour) and have managed to lose them all. I wish they were available for sale--it would be great to have an online ordering store for such things. I've looked on ebay from time-to-time, but nothing.  :/

Other than the patent/trademark infringement issue, 3D printers are up and coming and could totally do something like this! Even libraries are getting 3D printers. :D  My husband, the first year we were together, had his neon artist friend create a tubular bell neon light for me (you can see it in my Facebook pictures). His neon art creations go for around $400 on up-- but he'd need a license to create and sell tubular bells neon lights for profit.

Have a look on EBay - I just bought one from this seller:

Not quite the nice colours like the badge you describe but it is a tubular bell all the same.

He might make some more and put them up on the site...

Is the "Twisted Bell" actually a trademark? Never see the little "tm"  mark on any images/album covers.

And I'm sure I've read it was created by Trevor Key who's family had a go at claiming it, maybe even the original Virgin Records contract may have had a clause in it.

Unfortunately, the badges sold out long ago - sorry! I had them made to raise funds for Tonic, with £1 from each sale going to Mike's charity. The bell logo is indeed copyright Oldfield Music. Way back before Dark Star was official, we were hauled in front of Clive Banks for using the logo without his knowledge - luckily I had a letter from Oldfield Music dated prior to Clive's involvement granting permission and it broke the ice to lead to what was to be a very productive time for Dark Star as the Official Mike Oldfield Magazine. Things have quietened down a lot now, but this year looks to be very exciting for us all again, I think, what with a new album coming and the 40th anniversary of Tubular Bells looming!

Yes indeed! Your new biography sounds very interesting.

And I know this sounds rather greedy of me - but is there likely to be perhaps a special issue of Dark Star magazine to commemorate the 40th anniversary?
