Hi all,

[EDIT:  The track is now complete and can be downloaded for free from http://www.avatarone.com - a 'making' of video can be viewed here:

I'm new here, but I thought I'd get straight to the point and link to a clip of a cover of Tubular Bells (Sentinel) that I'm working on.  I first heard the track when I was 14 in 1992 as part of Tubular Bells 2.  I'm now a dance music producer, and it was pretty much down to the inspiration I received from that track that I'm where I'm at now.

Anyway, I  started work (yesterday) on a dancefloor friendly version of the track, so I'm still quite early in the process.  You will hear that I've had to slow the track down 8bpm or so to make it fit the current standards for trance music - there are certain conventions that I need to bend the original to.

Once the track is complete I'll make it available for free download.  Here's what I have so far:

If you're interested, I work entirely in software (apart from my midi keyboard obviously! ).  I sequence and mix in Ableton Live, master in Soundforge 9, use Reason for the drums, and Sylenth and Omnisphere provide the synths.

Regards!

Mike

I like it !!

Could sound great on the dancefloor. Would like to request louder and louder choir in the background in the first half, and the addition of drum and bass in the second half. ;)

Hey,

Thanks for your input, I've amended the choir part as requested and I'm working on the rest of it, including the drums.  I should have it finished in the next day or so :)

Mike
