Well I just received the cd TUBULAR VIBES, A Tribute to Mike Oldfield I ordered thru Amazon. I didn't really care what the music was like, I wanted it for the cover which is the same as the original TB except the TB is all warped.

There are 13 dance tracks by assorted artists.

1. Tubular Bells Part 4

No similarities to the original

2. Taurus

Kind of an Indian disco version, not bad

3. Guilty

Very close to the original, good stuff

4. Jewel in the Crown

They all sound like they were mixed by the same person, I thought there'd be more a variety of styles, but this one stays close to the original. You definitely have to like dance music to enjoy this cd.

5. Funkie Tubular Bells

Funky! Starts with a bassy beat

6. Moonlight Shadow (unplugged version)

Funkier version

7. High Place (In High Places)

Very Nice, same speed as original, beautiful female voice, never liked Jon Anderson

8. Get to France (To France)

Very nice but a bit tinny

9. Moonlight Shadow (dance version)

annoyingly techno

10. The Blue Incantations

I like the original so much that I may be too biased to comment on this piece. I'm torn between 'Some things are sacred and shouldn't be touched' and 'Imitation is the highest form of flattery'. Dancey again.

11. Five Miles Out

FUNKY

12. The Red Incantations

NOW THIS ONE I LIKE!

13. The Tubular Countdown

Similar to the TBIII excerpt on the Essential MO, very funky.

Although Mikes gritty raw guitar work has been drowned out by techno bass beats, I still think this cd is an interesting addition to an avid fans collection.

Tracy.

I was rather disappointed in this compilation. I have found much more enjoyment and quality in the fan and tribute tracks here at tubular.net

Flash and gleam among the oak-trees,
Laugh and leap into the valley."

no offense to anyone...BUT! This really sucked! Sound quality is very poor...it sounds like a home studio with absolutely non-experinced producer did this mess and their label made big promo to it...nothing interresting really...blah...
