Does Steve Wright use a bit of 'Tubular X' on his show? I haven't heard the track, but I was wondering about the bit of music that he uses that sounds like Mike.

The X-Files: Fight The Future

Although not included in the film itself, the soundtrack album contained a specially-composed track by Mike called Tubular-X, which combined the X-Files theme with Tubular Bells.

Yes Mike himself did make it. And you can tell ;). Steve Wright...is he the dude who made the X-Files theme or the dude who made X-Files? I don't remember. And there are 2 soundtracks of the X-Files movie (weird). And the most known and most available one doesn't contain Tubular X.

@ Brandon: Mark Snow is the author of the original X-files theme, and there is only one soundtrack for 'The X-files: Fight the future', i.e. the movie. The other X-files soundtrack available on the market [here it's still commonly available, I don't know about Canada... ;)] is called 'Songs in the key of X' and includes all the songs (very few, indeed) played during the various episodes (and the five seasons) of the 'X-files' TV show. This second soundtrack does not include Mike's Tubular X because it was not used in any episode of the show.

Musically I spired was right though.

There are two editions of "The X-Files: Fight The Future".

One including Tubular X, one without.

Tubular X is the backing music for the TV ad for X-Files here in Brazil...

BTW...how did Mike get involved with that? As far as I know,he did it when he was living in Ibiza.

Yes Brandon, there are 2 editions of The X-files movie soundtrack and... Tubular X is only included on the european version. That's why there, in Canada, is not so easy to find it (it must only appear on imported records). :O

And David, maybe you're refering to an extract from an interview at
Steve Wright Show that has been included on some bootlegs and is circulating all over the net. This music excerpts aren't Tubular X but Mike improvisations. If you want to hear Tubular X you can do it at Arrian's webpage ;)
