If you heard "Tubular Bells IV" and "Mass murder" in the same sentence, it was me, muttering at myself.

Now, the only talk about TBIV has been fans considering that possibility and discussing it, but nothing official at all. The album that Mike's working on now doesn't seem to have anything to do with Tubular Bells.

This must explain the forthcoming "Strollling Ripper" mix:

"Knife in back..... two well-placed gunshots....the cut brake-line....The truly wonderful rat poison!.....sword attack...."

I doubt there will ever be another Bells - unless of course, he was paid a huge sum of money to go there again.

Why is everybody so caught up with the Tubular Bells series?

Yes, it's a fantastic record and yes, I loved the sequels...but for me it's a much more thrilling thought that Mike's working on a NEW idea, i.e. that he might be about to give me one of those wonderful, extatic and simply magic moments...again!!

Like when I first listened to Ommadawn...such moments are what I long for!!

(and - not being a musician - I would think it must be more interesting to work on a new concept?)

Perhaps he'll shock us all by bringing out TB5 before TB4. There could be no complaints about lack of innovation then, by golly.

OMG!!! Well, somebody tell Mike quickly! There's still time for him to change the '5' to a '6' on the CD cover.

Maybe he can release the next TB trilogy in reverse, then! Release 6, let some time pass, and then put out 5 and 4.

Why let some time pass?... Well, it worked for the Matrix.

yeah it could be like the star war's thing where you have ran out of ideas before the first installment so you call it part IV, Then wait 30 years to bring out a new one and give it a corny name like,,,,, Tubular bell's part minus VI the return of  the revenge of the Piltdown Menace that attacked the cloning of the original bell to infinity and beyond,,,, I know it may sound familier but it could work.

a prequel?

Looking forward to the Jar Jar version of the Caveman song (poodoo! poodoo! POODOO! ), "Guitars Sounding like Lightsabers", "Far Above the Cloud City", "Theme from The Ex-wing", "Blue Cantina", and "Darth's Star". And, we can't forget the rousing hit on Side 2 known as "Tattoo Ine" (featuring Tusken Raiders on bagpipes)

On the B-sides, you will find the rarities "Wonderful Lando", "Orabidagobah", "Jedi Mind Tricks of the Light". Jabba even sings "In the Poodoo" in Huttese. Some of the songs are already available for download in midi-chlorian format.

Mike Oldfield is NOT JUST Tubular Bells.

At least in 1998 Mike thought otherwise.

"I could have called all my albums Tubular Bells. In which case this would be Tubular Bells 18. I wouldn't have done that as they would have to have the same cover and I just love this cover, I don't know why, I love this shape."

Well, I'd certainly buy one. And I think I can speak for my goldfish also.
