I like unusual or errr.... "interesting" cover versions.

Here are some: -

Placebo - Running up That Hill

The Flaming Lips - Can't Get You Out of my Head

Keane - With or Without You

Ukulele and Synth - Are Friends Electric?

Same guys doing Fade to Grey

I Heard It Through The Grapevine Creedence Clearwater Revival

Ooops I Did It Again Richard Thompson

Common People William Shatner/Joe Jackson

I Will Survive Cake

Light My Fire Shirley Bassey

Smooth Operator Senor Cocunut

Hounds Of Love The Futureheads

That`s Entertainment Morrissey

Love Will Tear Us Apart Nouvelle Vague

I Believe I Can Fly Me First & The Gimme Gimmes

Band On The Run Foo Fighters

With A Little Help From My Friends Sergio Mendes Brasil 66

Walk On By The Stranglers

A lot of those artists have done a lot of other great cover versions also imo.Where as artists such as The Gimmes,Nouvelle Vague,Senor Cocunut etc kind of specialise in them I guess.Worth checking out on youtube anyway if you like any of those.Foo Fighters version of Baker Street is equaly as rocksome as their Wings cover. And Richard Thompson has done so many fantastic covers now I can`t keep track of them all.My favourite cover version artist however is Robyn Hitchcock, but I couldn`t really find anything up on youtube sadly.

Nice covers, there. I particularly like what Placebo and The Futureheads have done with the Kate Bush material. I thought the first part of Foo Fighters' "Band On The Run" was good, but I was disappointed by the rest of it. I think I just really love the original, though, and missed that repeated guitar trill in the last part.

Brazil - The Real Tuesday Weld

Wuthering Heights - The Puppini Sisters

This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both of Us - Siouxsie & The Banshees

Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Making Plans For Nigel - Nouvelle Vague

These Foolish Things - Bryan Ferry

These Foolish Things - Rod Stewart

Anytime, Anywhere - Sarah Brightman

Sway - Julie London

@Sweetpea:I feel kind of the same way about the Foo`s version of Band On The Run,and also their version of Baker Street as well come to that. The originals are just too damn fantastic imo.Still interesting alternatives though I think. They also do a version of Pink Floyd`s Have A Cigar which is a little bit more quirky perhaps. And great choice with Julie London`s Sway,I forgot about that one from Ultra Lounge 9.There was kind of an electro mash-up with both the Dean Martin and Julie London versions of Sway going around a few years back.God it was terrible!    :p

I have to say I`m completely hooked on these Ukulele & Synth/teachest etc guys. They`re my new favourite band in fact.Fade To Grey is just laugh out loud brilliant, and then it kind of grows on you the more you listen to it.Anyway this isn`t strictly a cover version I guess, but inspired and reminded by Are Friend`s Electric here`s  The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band with My Friend`s Outside This is my 7 year old son`s favourite song at the moment, worth hanging around for the excellent fade out.Unfortunatly I couldn`t find The Bonzo`s version of I Predict A Riot, which is even better still...Tarnation!

Ok I love this next one here:Arranged for orchestra by Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke. And also featuring his bandmate Youth and Liam O` Flynn on uillalean pipes(who also appeared on Voyager of course) Check out..   The Symphonic Battle Of Evermore Jaz has recorded symphonic albums comprised of both Led Zep and Pink Floyd material now.As well as a concerto with Nigel Kennedy based around the music of The Doors.Three great albums imo.

Mike did Arrival by Abba.Very different and so not Mike-except he did it as only Mike can!!!
I have a huge block against Abba.My big sis used to play them constantly.I am blessed or cursed with a memory that stretches back to being 2 1/2 and she was a huge Abba fan.She even made my mum stand in the snow outside the cinema in Salisbury to see Abba The Movie.Consequently my sister got Abba The Album that Xmas and played it to death.I can respect them for their songwriting but i really don't like their songs. My kids insisted on Watching Mama Mia at my flat the other day.I found other ways to occupy my time!!!

Rant over and apologies to any Abba fans here.

Funny how (in my circles anyway) you don't admit you don't like "Mama Mia" - have to keep it close to your chest  :/  If anyone asks I say -  "mmm." ;)

Yes  - Bohemian Rhapsody - very impressed :D

Goodness, please, don't mention that film -- it haunted me through my entire summer vacations last February. I'm quite big on ABBA as a band and can't stand that film.

Anyway, unusual yet great cover: Love Will Tear Us Apart - Squarepusher, from the album Do You Know Squarepusher.

@ Delfín: thanks for the links to Andy McKee's videos. There are various "do-it-all-by-myself" acoustic guitarists around (we even have one in Italy), but gosh, he is good! :D

Thanks to nightspore, I found this...

Youth Group - Forever Young

... a rock (?) cover of Alphaville's Eighties classic. I love it, I hope you do too.

WAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!   That computer version of Bohemian Rhapsody is , I'm crying as it's so awful , painful to listen to:(  :O .   Now where did i put that chainsaw, as it's killing music, or I;d have to kill whoever poster it DS for torturing my ears LOL!!!!!

Wiga I like the ukelelee & synth  cover of Are Friends Electric.    That's made me think Gary Numan is doing a 30th Anniversary tour of "The Pleasure Principal" album. I'd like to see him when he plays Cambridge  :)  :D http://www.numan.co.uk/box/tourdates.html, as that's nearest one to me.  I can't convince my  fella to go, as he's seen GN twice, once with Tubeway Army and solo, and said he wasn't that good, maybe he just had an off day. I'm trying to get someone to go with me, as I don't like to go alone.

Canasta covering Tom's Diner

This is a pretty good cover of a catchy song (by one of my FAVORITE FAVORITE bands that few people outside of Chicago have ever heard of, although they are apparently on the Presidential iPod)
