Ugo Group: Members Posts: 5495 Joined: April 2000 Posted: Mar. 12 2004, 17:59 At about 2:10-2:11 into Caveman, there's a muffled cymbal hit. It sounds very weird to me - it's off-beat, and it's at a point where (at least IMHO...) a cymbal hit is not really needed. It's almost like it was something that Mike didn't really want to be heard (a mistake?), and thus it was somehow pushed back in the mix... I hear it clearer on the DVD-A, but of course it's also there on the CD. I tried listening to the original Piltdown Man sequence [from TB 1973, on all the four mixes I have of it: original (CDV2001), Boxed, Elements and HDCD], and, although TB 2003's Caveman can't really be compared with its 1973 equivalent [I think they're just too different... ], in the 1973 version the hit is not there. I also tried turning the volume way up, to hear if it was hidden somewhere in the mix - nothing, it's just not there. If it is the cymbal crash I'm thinking of, it's definitely deliberate, and I remember it in the '73 album.
