Hello!

"The Viareggio concert 1984" and "The Orchestral Hergest Ridge" was recently shared on "www.dimeadozen.org" in a lossless format. You can find it here:

Viareggio

Orchestral Hergest Ridge

You may have to register.
A great way to get some lossless live recordings.
Enjoy... I know I will!!!

Thanks for the advertising!

Don't forget that Cologne 1982 'Turbulent Weather' and Katowice 1999, and Hannover 1981 are all still there in lossless format too.

It's lovely to hear some boots that haven't been put through the MP3 machine!

:D

Yes it's me, trying to seed my entire collection!

(But finding ones that aren't made from MP3s is quite difficult...)

Once I've finished I hope some other people will also share...

a) Lossless are all those audio codecs that compress the original WAV file without lossing information/quality. That means that when you uncompress the file you get an exact copy of the original WAV file. The most popular formats are FLAC, SHN and APE. Generally this are still big files.

Formats such MP3 or OGG are lossy, that means that when you compress the original WAV file some information is lost and sound quality is reduced in order to get a better compression ratio. Depending on the compression ratio this reduction in quality is easier to be heard.

b) Dimeadozen is restricted to 100.000 users in order to preserve the servers activity. Generally is difficult to get an account but from time to time some users are removed (for unactivity or bad behaviour) and some new accounts can be done. The fact is that to share with people that is not already registered is better to use a different tracker with no registration limits such as Bootcity or The Trader's Den. I ussually made a ZIP with all the files and use eMule to share with the Oldfield community 'cause this program is most popular. I know it has slower downloads but this also means that the file will be available for a longer period of time ;)

Hello and a big thanks to Spinne!!

As I started this topic I kind of felt obligated to answer the questions about lossless format that came up, but I saw that SPINNE had allready done that, so thanks to you!!

I did not know that dimadozen was "full" and for that I am very sorry. Hopefully we can make these concerts availabe somewhere else soon... sorry...

Well I have no objections to someone reseeding them at another tracker if they want - just don't turn them into MP3s please (except for your own use!;)

So, I'm interested to talk to anyone who's got any more shows on audio CD that are guaranteed not MP3-sourced.

:)

I'm just wondering if it would be possible to post "torrent" links of the forementioned files (especially viareggio and katowice) here to make them available to all bittorrent users.
Does anyone (spinne?) know if this would work for dimeadozen?
I'm not very familiar with bittorrent (in fact never used it before)...

Torrents in Dimeadozen are personalized and the use people will do of them will afect the numbers of that user. I'm sure most of you will follow the rules of the site and share the files once downloaded so the original user numbers keep healthy but I know that there would be some others that no, and this could made that account to be cancelled. I'm sorry. Soon I will upload some to eMule so all of you can download ;)

More shows have gone up over the last couple of weeks - Siegen 81, Wembley 83, Dortmund 80, Koln 82, Viareggio 84, Carnegie Hall 93 , Katowice 98, Wembley 79, Goteborg 84...

Sadly I am now all out of lossless shows so that'll be it for now I think unless someone has anything more!
