Hi folks,

is anybody able to offer verified information about the former home of MO called "Roughwood Croft" in Chalfont St. Giles in the outer London area??

As far as I know,Mike & family have moved out to the Bristol area in South Gloucestershire!!

So I wonder if Mike has kept his mansion near London or if he has sold it to anybody because he doesn´t need it any longer??

Please let me know if anyone knows more about this topc!!

Regards,Michael73

Hi Tati,

thanks for the answer!

Do you think or know it´s a fake so Mike still lives in RC??

What  do you want me to check out??
What is "Hamptons"??

Now I know HAMPTON sells houses but there is no hint on their website whatsoever pointing to Roughwood Croft or Oldfield selling his house!

So what is the purpose of this hint??

It does NOT help at all!

Please give me useful info!!

Roughwood Croft was on sale for some time on the Hamptons website. They´ve taken it off again for some reason. Either it has been sold or Mike has decided to keep it.

Is that useful information?  ;)

I am slightly surprised that the level of amazing intelligence (I use the word as a noun...) on this site has not provided a more comprehensive answer to this... as it happens I go past the Chalfonts every week although I've never stopped by to see Roughwood Croft. I would imagine Mike, despite his wealth, would not be able to buy at £9m (if this is true) and retain it, but then, who on earth knows his wealth either. He has always been very private so its not really decent territory to speculate upon, but in basic terms, it would be nice to know which bits of our fair country he lived in even if we did not exactly have his post code!

PS. My guess is that around that bit of Bucks, you'd need damned good legs on you if you were a postman.

If I googled right, his (well, Fanny's, but at the moment it's probably safe to assume that they are identical ;) ) new home was offered in 2005 for ~£5m (resp. half of that without a few surroundings).

... and he seems to like another indoor pool:

This morning my girlfriend Loulou and I visited Roughwood Croft which is not far from where she lives. She flashed a smile and the builders let us in to have a look around the renovation with guided tour no less! Mike moved out over a year ago, and his swimming pool and recording studio are ready for demolition in February or March. The front door is boarded up and the house is being stripped down. I dont know how much it sold for but the new owner is a designer called Stevens and his wife and family. Loulou being Loulou she knicked Mike's doorknob from his recording studio! Bids anybody...? And we took a few photos and videos but frankly, as its a demolition job, its not top banana in the design department.... let me know if you want to see one of two, although somebody will need to tell me how to post them if its possible!

There...an update on Mike's old residence...hard info from inside the very building! If anybody else needs admittance, you'll need a Loulou!

I've been there recently and I can confirm all the info Marky has written, without such details about the home itself,I was in the front but I thought that would be not a great idea to get there like he and his girlfriend did.

Well, apparently it was reconstruction work that required public attention... see also this thread in the gallery:

Well, i hope he has friends on the local council. With any listed building here in the UK (that is usually an old building with special protected status) it is usually very difficult to get permission for any changes. And that is quite a big change, trebling the size of the glass and plastic.

As much as i'd love an indoor pool if i was a millionaire, I'm not sure i'd want to spoil a beautiful house like that.

Just reading back through this thread, I think michael73 is being a bit rude.

Michael, you asked for info and Tati suggested checking out Hamptons.
You said "what is Hamptons?" and Nacho said that they sell houses.
To which you replied, you know they sell houses and therefore the response did not help you at all?
I thought you asked who/what they are!

Marky, you said you're surprised that an answer hadn't been reached (so you did a bit of research yourself).  Perhaps more people would have been willing to reply to this if michael73 had been a bit more patient in his replies?

If someone thinks someone else is being rude, let's resolve it as it happens rather than months later. I haven't heard from anyone else about it over the past several months, nor did I catch a particular tone of rudeness, though I had challenges following the syntax (sometimes I wonder if English is my first language?). Michael hasn't signed in since New Year's Day, btw. So...probably best to just carry on with the topic.

Pretty interesting stuff that A.R. has posted. :)

replies?

I did not think he was not being rude.  I was confused by Tati's answer too, as I had never heard of Hamptons and had no idea what it was.

His answer was not that he knew that Hamptons sold houses.  His reply, after Hamptons was explained to him, was "Now" I know that Hamptons sells houses.

Just my impression of what transpired.
