Hmm, I did ask if anyone knew of any fun sites just before the thread was "hidden".

I've found rathergood.com

plenty of fun forums, plus silly flash animations and some great ska music.

Oh - and I know this post is off topic, and the Mods here want to keep this site Mike related. I agree with them, it is their site to run as they wish. I and many others appreciate all the work they have put in for us to create this place.

But, a community needs to play as well, to let off steam occassionally, if it is to work well together.

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

Just tried it; not much there. A nice huge graphic with "Men in Black" type guys walking, some blinking sprocket holes, and nothing to click on. At least  there were no pop-ups and it loaded fast. Reminds me of www.landofthelunch.com; a nice picture and nothing else.

I tried, they kept flickering. Anyone who has moving tabs like this on sites needs a good course in web site design 101 and basic user interface design. The Kewabe guys who (I think ! ) design "tubular.net" or the Google guys could give good lessons. I'm glad they don't also design cars, or you would have models where the door handles slid all over the surface of the car. Very badly made web sites are just a pet peeve of mine.

I tried www.allsparks.com and it worked fine. But the site, as far as I understand, is about the Sparks. I've just heard a few tracks here and there. Are they worth investigating?

C'mon you people, it was too generic, too simple, it needed to be more specific and make you actually think before you posted, thank God it's gone. Love games, but the challenge needs to be there. That was just a time and space waster. Sorry to whoever started it, just think it needed to be more specific, like hiawathas new thread.

I disagree.

Not all of us has the time (or the patience) to read numerous threads and posting of +2000 characters.

I liked it, it gave me an excuse to go back to a forum with music lovers and it 'forced' me to read the list of new topics (since this is my starting page on this forum).

But to all their own thoughts ... and we are no moderators, so...

The old game gets a middle finger, the new one gets a *thumbs up* ;)

Is the 'What are you playing this second?' thread going to part also??

Surely this thread will be deleted soon, then someone will start a 'What happened to the thread asking whether the song association thread had been deleted thread'     :p

Very funny,CuNimb! :)

The much lamented Song Association Game.

I do miss it. It was very amusing! It appealed to quite a few members here too.

Yes it was 'generic' and 'simple' as you say Tubularbelle, but that was it's attraction, partly. What also made it good was that we all had this common and very strong link to each other in that we all liked the music of Mike Oldfield, and therefore our musical knowledge & diverse tastes were interesting.

It made me visit the Tubular.net site daily & whilst there I'd read other posts I may well have missed. It helped connect people in a way.

I also felt it was rather like the excellent, UK BBC Radio 4 panel game 'I'm sorry I haven't a clue'<a href="www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/clue/">here</a> or should I say 'antidote' to panel games!!

Here the contestants (Stephen Fry, Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor to name a few) take part in one game called Mornington Crescent & have to associate the names of London Underground Tube Stations and the winner ultimately is the one who gets to Mornington Crescent. The great thing is there are no rules - they say whatever they feel like but pretend there is a very tricky to understand structure to the game. I suppose it is English humour for you. The song association game also had this freedom from restraint and people from all over the world participated , so it must have had some kind of universal appeal.

Having said all that I do understand it had to go. It was getting very big and word games don't appeal to everyone. But it is missed. And it would never be the same on any other website in any other form.

Perhaps we could humbly ask if we could bring it back once a year? If we are very, very good and very well behaved?? :)

Maybe I should not have started the "what is your favorite song" one until months later. As I said, I thought up "favorite song" the night BEFORE the "Association" thread vanished, and I intended to post it without regard to the "Association" thread, as I thought it was something different. Now it is suffering from "song association thread association", when I intended it to be something entirely unrelated and unconnected.
