Hi everyone,
i was wondering what part of your collections, or expereinces to do with mike, mean the most to you, for me it has to be the day my dad brought home Heavens Open on record, id been searching for it for years and without telling me so had he, at the time it was the only album on record i didnt have, i was sooo happy when he gave it to me, so that album has to mean the most to me :)

Either TB2 or TSODE. I remember listening to Sentinel for a long time when I was a kid. And Weightless also. It's the first real Oldfield album I heard. I heard pieces of Hergest Ridge, Platinum, and Incantations but TB2 was the first MO cd we owned. Then we got TSODE and I listened to everything on that for a long time.

Five Miles Out was the first of Mike's records that I bought and has a  special place. Another is Ommadawn as I first listened to it in a  holiday cottage in North Wales looking out over Llanberis Pass - still very vivid in my imagination :D

Tubular Bells III is probably my +prized+ posession, mainly because i got it from an actual store when i was in England for a vacation. likewise, with Guitars when i was in Germany.

For me it was 'Incantations' and its still my favorite.

I waited and waited for Mike to bring out his next album for almost three years and then I was overjoyed to hear it was a double record album.

I was not dissapointed. The music themes were haunting and full of atmosphere, it made me want to pick up my brothers guitar and hit a few of the chords, but everyone in the house jumped on me as I can't play a note  :)

Funny what really good music does to you.

Cheers MO fan   :D

Watchin my then girlfriend, now wife, listening to Hergest Ridge with headphones on for the first time.

Jan 1986
I could see her facial expressions and the feeling that she was gettin as much enjoyment out of it to the point of "Oragasmic Feelin" that i had on numerous occasions. At that point I realised that i was normal and that the music could make you feel so "Waaaaaaaaaahhh".

For a long time i thought it was just me. LOL

Ommadawn for sure...

but "recently" (half a year ago) I bought Hergest Ridge, and that album has got a lot of charisma too...

And off course: Tubular Bells...

My ultimate music-evening is: Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn! And some whisky will make it compleet! :)

the four first vinyls of him that i bought in a second hand record shop in portugal when we were taken to the end of term journey in the 8th course of primary school.
yeah i spent almost half of the money i had in those vinyls. they are the most beloved items in my collection... tubular bells, hergest ridge, platinum and ommadawn.

well also the knebworth video means a lot to me. once more i state it would be great to have it on dvd. any time i watch it i'm afraid it could be the last time... sometimes  it even sounds a bit woawowawoa... sure u know what i mean.

One old TDK 60 tape where I recorded "Five Miles Out",the first work of him I heard , from the vinyl a friend bought when the album was released.
I never play it now ( I got the CD later ),but this tape lives with me since 1982...
And it's also the very first tape I have ever recorded.
There's nothing written on it,but I always recognize it.

...Tomorrow I'll listen to it !!

Mmm, probably the videos of Mike I have (Knebworth, TWC, Elem etc. etc.) means the most to me, because they can't be bought new anymore. I also bought a Sallyangie LP in Denmark last year... me very proud, I came back from Denmark and I see Sallyangie is for sale on CD... duh  :/

But everything I have of Mike is handled carefully by me. If someone wants to see a Mike album of me he/she has to handle is very carefully. ;)

My happiest MO moment was finally finding a friend who owned a Macintosh, so I could finally check out the "Enhanced CD" portion of TSODE! LOL
