Still waiting for the Dark Star mix =)

I know you already did The Lake, but how about something more from Discovery... some instrumental mix of the songs would be nice =)

Best wishes

/ Johan

I guess you could do something from TB3, Guitars or a cover of the 'ant city' music from Tr3s Lunas (the track called 'Joyride' on TL2)

or you could continue with what you've already got making it sound better

I know this is completely unrelated to Mike Oldfield, but I've been meaning to ask you. I'm hesitating a little, you see, but here it goes, anyway. I see that some people who listen to my music comment on the quality of the MIDI instruments, and while the MIDI quality is even more central on my latest upcoming composition (hee hee hee), I really, really wished to listen to one of my pieces with a more... er, un-MIDI sound, let's say. Perhaps you're willing to give it a try, when you have the time? I mean, it's just a suggestion. You could take one of the songs ('Somewhat Late' is a huge personal favourite of mine...) and do your own remix with your synths and sounds. I swear I'd love to hear it, and make others hear it, too. Let me know what you think.

But if you want a real suggestion, James mentioned "Guitars" above. What about "Summit Day"? Have you tried that one already? You could make your own interpretation of it.

That's a good suggestion Mustapha. I'd like to have a go at producing one of your tracks without imposing any of my creativity on it. It would be great practice for what I'd like to work towards doing

You could put the original MIDI backing files somewhere on your site

Yay! More producers! :D

Well, really, I'm surprised on your interest. You can find the MIDI files in my MIDI site, though these files are slightly "crude" versions. I slightly modified most of them before recording, and I still have to find out where these "final" MIDI files are. But they're there, anyway. If you really wish to work on my music, James, let me know more about it. I think something great can come out!

Well, I asked him, BOOsTER made it. Here it is... "Somewhat Late", by BOOsTER and Fernie. I really liked the results. It sounds very unique, quite different from the landscape of acoustic guitars of the original. ;)

Cool. Did that take long to do?

It kind of still sounds machine-like, but the synth sounds help to disguise this fact more than your original recording of it

If you're still interested I could have a go at doing another one off the album, or I could make my own arrangement of Somewhat Late. Loads I'd like to do with it.

Regarding my enthusiastic interest, it isn't so much because of the music itself - rather the experience I'd get from doing another multitrack recording. I'm not creative enough to think of a tune myself as I feel I'm too classically orientated for such a task

Would you like to work with "Somewhat Late", really? That would be cool! If you really have ideas for it, I'd definitely like to hear what they would sound like. I could send you the MIDI files I used, if they are any use to you. I'll try to find the "final" version with all the "bugs" fixed, but you can always hear the MP3 to listen to the overall picture. Anyway, if you really would like to work on it, you have my thumbs up.

Well this is a crazy idea, but maybe you could make something interesting of it.

My idea is a Oldfield vs Jarre Mix.  Imagine dueling banjo's but dualing keyboards instead.  Of course mike would win :)

Not that im saying use dueling banjos as the music, just helps to visualise the idea :)

Actually, I do say use duelling banjos as the music - that would be quite something :D

Hehe. Reminds me of a scene in 'The Curse of Monkey Island'

You could join them on your dueling mandolin

One idea that has been tickling on my brain today is to make a "musical crossover" between Mike's 'Outcast' and The Beatles' 'Helter Skelter'. I've been amusing myself imagining the results, and I actually think that's something to be done. I'll test the possibilities here.
